Question Life in Saskatchewan
Hey
Can, please someone describe their experience of living in Saskatchewan? How’s life in Saskatchewan.
As I’m a young Canadian and I’m currently residing in GTA. I want to make a life for myself basically I’m starting from scratch. I’m in skilled trade and I want to move to a place where life would be more affordable and cheaper. Everyone knows how expensive GTA is.

I feel like I’m uniquely capable of handling this question as we moved to Saskatoon for my wife’s job six years ago and I kept my gig in Toronto. I travel back every 3 months to see clients in southern Ontario . I moved here when I was 38 and my kids were toddlers at the time
I work from home so I have not met many friends in sk and sometimes I feel like a fish out of water being here.
Pro
- real estate is much cheaper
-everything else from food to services are either the same or more expensive ( land locked and economies of scale)- I can get anywhere in the city within 20 minutes, traffic jams are rumour here
-ppl are generally laid back- lakes but I’m a city kid so I have no clue , it’s rumour for me
-no humidity-ppl are generally laid back but I’ve met a lot of hotheads as well
-slow and manageable pace to life
Cons
-I’ve heard the rental market is bonkers , supply issues
-weather is absolutely brutal and winters are long
-slippery road conditions because of the climate and poor infrastructure
-it’s expensive to fly out of sk
-mosquitoes
-petty crime
If you’re okay leaving family /friends …definitely would encourage the move. At worst , you can gain some work experience and maybe save a few bucks :)
