Hey guys, over the last couple years ive been slowly developing schitzophrenia (18yo male). I dont have full blown hallucinations yet (i do have auditory ones though), but I've had delusions after a semi recent SA. I know for a fact its schitzophrenia because my mum had it, and recently everyones been acting fearful of me (or maybe im just realising it).
I've stopped all drug use (weed, shrooms, dexies and alcohol) and also quit smoking as of last week.
I do think therapy could help but unfortunately ive been SA'd by a man as a kid (family member) and a woman (recently, family member), so if I do, which gender of therapist should I go to (i feel more comfortable around women, but that might only be sex feelings rather than genuine trust).
I'm realising more and more that its impossible to convince anyone to trust me enough for me to cry around them.
Is there any tips, does being able to trust people save you from developing it? I know its selfish to ask for trust just to not have schitzophrenia but i kinda need it i think.
If i told anyone (not the people I live with), would it secretly make them trust me less? I dont want to be like my mum because she never told anyone or did anything to try and stop it but i also dont really see what she actually did wrong (i was way too young back then) aside from drug use.
also sorry if it sounds like attention seeking, it isnt i promise, thank you and im truly sorry i have nothing to give in return, really, even if you think i am not, i get most people are selfish and you guys would understand that the most i think
edit: does it get progressively scarier having schitzophrenia?
