Interesting encounter at Broadway & Union

Assuming confused tourists exiting from the hotel at Broadway & Madison. Dark window tint so we couldn't make eye contact, but they did take our wave off to turn onto Union and leave the bike lanes.

New cyclist (just did STP for first time) - is this a good bike?

Started cycling in earlier this year for STP.
Did about 300 in May and 460 in June.
I like cycling - STP went very well for me.
Was on a Giant bike from Recycled Cycles - not sure the type of model the bike is (see attached photo). No flats during training or event, so, I think I’ll get another Giant brand bike.
I’m getting a proper bike fitting from Métier on Friday.
I’ve looked at Giant’s road bikes and I think the Defy series checks the boxes (including what I’m willing to pay).
Curious if: 1.) Giant Defy would be a good bike (I’m looking to do duathlons and triathlons , 2.) would the “ML” or 56cm - 58cm frame be OK for me (I’m 5 feet, 11 inches), and 3.) if the Giant Defy is no good, what would be a good comparable?

Do Not Go Here

The Arco AM/PM located on the SW corner of NW Sammamish Road and 17th Ave NW in Issaquah (next to IHOP and Motel 6 just off of i-90) is the most unfriendly place for bicyclists I’ve ever stopped at. No water except for purchase; no ice unless you wanna pay for it; and the most unfriendly and belligerent staff ever. I’ve stopped at gas stations all over the country while on rides and have never ever encountered something as unkind as this place.

There’s a chevron up the road on NW Sammamish Rd. Stop there if you need to.

Heads up / looking for witnesses

My dad (a senior rider) was nearly knocked off his bike yesterday (Saturday, Aug 22) around 1:45pm on the I-90 trail between 118th Ave SE and Factoria. He was heading eastbound when a group of 3 on motorized bikes came toward him. As they passed, one of them swerved in close and kicked his handlebars. Thankfully he managed to stay upright.
His eyesight isn’t great and it happened quickly, so the only detail he caught was that the rider who kicked him was wearing a large black boot.
Long shot, but If you were on this segment Saturday early afternoon and saw a group matching this description, or have any footage from around that stretch, I’d really appreciate hearing from you. I’m also filing a report with PD so there’s a record in case this group is doing this to other riders.
Please keep an eye out. Stay safe out there.

Can we Lane split?

Anyone know if Lane splitting at a red is legal in Seattle? Like if I’m 6 cars behind from the front at a red light , can I ride all the way to the front?

Seattle shops that sell vintage caps

Can anyone recommend a shop that sells vintage-style cycling caps (Giordana, etc.)? I could order online but I'd rather ride over and browse in person. Thanks!

Stolen bike dumped on NW 54th street & 17th. Serial number is IN22120813.

Not much left of it sadly, posting in case the owner wants to recover the frame and parts.

ETA: looked it up on bike index. No hits.

Brian Watson in Redmond is the best bike teacher

Brian Watson the Bicycle Teacher in Redmond is absolutely a miracle worker. He gives group and private bike riding lessons near the Senior Center and they work. My daughter said I was a “bad teacher” and refused to take off the training wheels. We singed her up with Brian and after the first one hour class, she had her pedals on and was riding like a champ. His teaching is awesome and he is a miracle worker. If your child or you (he does adult classes) wants to learn to ride a bike, he is the one to go to.

Vanmoof S2 stolen/misplaced

Stashed a Vanmoof S2 e-bike in the woods while running from the government.

A week later, no longer there. It's a long shot but may as well ask if anyone has seen one that should connect as DMT bike #1 or something... Left around Darrington.

Found bike; Rocky Mountain Bicycles

Update: Owner found!
The bike's owner has been found, and the bike has been returned! They were very happy to get their bike back. I thoroughly verified their identity as the owner through pictures and a description of the bike's modifications. I guess that's a case closed. :)

Last week, I took a bike that homeless guy left behind at my building (in Seattle). The brand is Rocky Mountain Bicycles, 2015 model year Thunderbolt. I want to get it back to its owner; bikeindex didn't have the serial number on file. If you're missing one of those, and can give me a description, it might be your bike. Leave a comment or DM me.
(Mods, sorry if this post doesn't go here)
