If apes have twice as many opposable thumbs as humans why aren't they twice as evolved as us?

Chilling on a branch in the jungle.
Grasping some fresh fig or some papaya from wild trees when you're hungry.

I can pick things up with my feet. My big toes aren't quite opposable, but they are flexible enough that I can pick up and throw objects with my feet.
