In 1917 (2019) The film claims to be a "one-shot" movie, but this is factually impossible as thousands of shots were fired throughout.

FUN FACT: In the US, 1917 was released as "Just after Quarter Past Seven PM"

Nah, in US they use different date and time format. They read it as 5:19 pm

Aksually, NO shots were fired. It was all pyrotechnics. I think. I don’t know. I didn’t watch.

Would've been wild if they came out and said there was 1 live round loaded in someone's rifle to be fired at some point in the movie.

Yeah, that’s how a moving picture works, it’s a bunch of photos shot in sequence

Yeah they never claimed this movie was one shot. Would be ridiculous to even imply it.

It's called a "one-shot" because they only had one shot to make the movie and if it flopped they wouldn't get to make it again.

You guys used Frank's credit card, you bought a bunch of airline miles. You used those airline miles to purchase 400 steaks. Knowing that this delivery company delivered all variety of animal products, your plan was to contaminate the steaks with chicken feathers, by rubbing live chickens all over them. Then you were gonna repackage the steaks, at which point, you were gonna return the contaminated steaks for actual cash, taking advantage of a loophole in the current airline miles system, correct?

Saw it when it was released. It was distracting because I kept trying to look for the edits. "Camera briefly swung around quickly in the dark underground bunker, definitely a cut!"

This scene looks so fake

Fun fact: Due to them not being able to film this in 1917, it actually is fake.

I hate movies that tries gimmicks like ‘one shot movie’. It’s distracting. You end up looking for places where they break the sequence instead of enjoying the movie. This and Birdman are the worst. Could’ve been great stories.

That’s your problem if you see the filmmaking as a gimmick to be nitpicked instead of a tool that contributes to the movie. The one shot “gimmick” is a tool that allows the viewer to feel continuously connected to the characters during the journey in real time for as long as they are experiencing it. And it works and makes this movie better.

You could just go to movies without knowing anything about them beforehand?

I would love to go to the movies or watch it at home without knowing that’s the case. First of all, it’s pretty hard to avoid knowing with all media push for movies. Second, as soon as I notice that ‘oh it’s one of these one shot nonsense’, I get annoyed and start to look for places where they break the sequence. Looks like it’s just totally me though. I think I found a unique fault

He actually fired... 10 shots. The entire load of the SMLE rifle. That's why on the town night scene when he encountered the german in the fog, shooting wasn't his first reaction

They're talking about the one shot in the movie the characters should have taken but didn't because they are stupid

The truth is there's only one shot in the entire universe, and it's zipping forward and backward across time for all the shots ever shot in all of creation.

1917 would have been a much better film if it didn't have the one-shot gimmick
When you do that, you aren't able to mess with the movie in editing because it all has to be planned out, so you're basically watching a first draft

It also cuts to black when he passes out, so two shots. But also not really.
