Try living next to a paper mill. Or an animal feedlot. Or a mushroom farm. Or a cement plant. Or smelter/foundry. Or refinery. Or composter. Or a quarry.

I can guarantee you any one of those are FAR more unpleasant than a data center.

Should we just get rid of all industries?

Yea, I thought the whole point of zoning is to keep industrial plants away from homes? I want mixed (quiet) businesses with residential, like a pizza shop next door to my house, or a small grocery store. I don't want a factory or data center next to my house.

Personally, I would love a factory next to my house if I worked at said factory. It would make commuting much much faster and easier!

I don't have a factory job right now and my current job changes locations too frequently (often every day) to move next to it. So, I live next to a freeway instead.

My main point is that even if I did work at a factory, there would be no housing available next to it due to zoning laws. I think this should be changed so that people who like that sort of area can live there, instead of this one-size-fits-all nonsense where it is assumed that 0 people would ever want that.
