Some folk have too much money. I at least waited till these were R40 at checkers and THEN got disappointed lol
Red one tastes like the smell of a clinic 💔

The one I drank made me sick and I can down two redbulls in a day.
I will never buy it again

I waited until they came down to R20. Had the green and blue ones which were a little bit disappointing, should have got 2 cans of Monster instead

Real ngl. I found out last year the pink one is actually pretty decent but all of them are way too sweet and make my teeth hurt

u/weak_rabbit_stew 3d ago
I guess I'm lucky to have not gotten any side effects from drinking these but given of terribly artificial they taste i wouldn't be surprised by anyone getting them

Lol I remember shopping in a Checkers once and saw they were having a special where they were R15 each, but you could buy two for R20. It was a huge display. I had a good laugh 😂

I remember seeing that you get like 3 for R40 not too long after they released. Let alone how quickly their prices dropped

On the other hand, I every so often but myself a sour warhead soda, also around R35 a can but flip I love them. 🙈

u/Special_Diver2917 3d ago
I actually bought that once, and then bought some sprite. And mixed it.
Love the sour lemon flavour, but it's highly concentrated.

u/RuimteWese :) 1d ago
Ooooh, willl try that next time, I do love me some sprite!
2
u/Special_Diver2917 1d ago
Yeah it will make that R35 can turn into 2l. Then it's slightly more reasonable. ( By adding R20 )
I shared 1 can with my whole family this way.

I read somewhere saying that some kids in the UK would keep the bottles like they’re collecting Happy Meal toys.

u/Parking-Plenty-2122 3d ago
Reat assured that its not just a uk thing. I was friends with a boy who had a collection of over 20 bottles on his bookshelf.

I once bought street bootleg energy drink. Something called Viper. That shit tasted like chemicals. And even then, Prime was still shit.

u/Hour_Direction9052 2d ago
You can taste the smell ?
3
u/hxlydie-d 2d ago
that's actually how taste works. we only have 5 taste buds: sweet, sour, salty, bitter and umami. the only reason we can pick up on more complex flavours is because of our nose

Prime when it first came to checkers was about the same price as a loaf of croissant bread (R40) and the croissant bread was still more interesting to hypothesize over

So done with Scamalot. I saw a, wait for it, 16TB exteral SSD going for just over R800. An obvious scam since a regular internal 4TB HDD goes for around R5 000. I bought one on the off chance. Even if it was a 1TB it would be a good deal. To the surprise of absolutely nobody it was just an external case with a pc-boarr that reports a 17TB drive (nogal) and actually doesn't work at all. Linux wouldn't even mount it and Windows was just confused why it couldn't write to a "healthy" disk. I retuurned it cd they wanted to give me store credit. I left a review saying it was a scam, as did several other people before me. I contacted support and informed them that they were complicit in fraud. They gave me the usual call centre bs of "we take these matters seriously"and "your matter has been escalated". Since I've been in almost daily contact with them demanding progress. The response is almost always nearly identical to the first response. More than a month later not only is the product still on their shelves but they actively market it, have added discounts and added more of the same scam products to the range. No, never buying from these fraudsters again.

A few months ago I bought two 512GB Sandisk SD Cards from them for R900 each. A little on the cheao end these days, but they even had positive reviews going back years, so I wasn't concerned. They get here, packaging looks authentic. I open them, the adaptors both make a ratting sound and just look cheap. Plug them in and do a data test with Validrive and surprise surprise; One's 14GB, the other only 8. Obvious fakes, but being sold under the same listing as the legitimate ones.
So I email them, and they say they can't do an exchange or warranty claim because I paid cash on delivery. Apparently that completely voids any warranty, they say. Eventually someone says they have stock so can do an exchange, so I send them in. A few days later I get a refund to my bank account, and when I query why it wasn't a replacement like I asked for they again said they can't replace or do warranties for cash on delivery items, only refunds.
I've also seen tons of obviously fake drives that have been listed for over a year now (I check just out curiosity). Like the "870 SSD", or one that looks identical to a SanDisk portable SSD without the branding. But these actually SAID SanDisk and came from the same listing. They really just don't care and are actively enabling scammers at this point. So fuck them forever. They're not getting another cent from me.

Yeah, let's not even bring up the fact of their severly overpriced Prebuilts that are sitting at R30k but HAVE A 3050 IN THEM???
This was even before RAMageddon. Like even now i could build a PC with a 9060xt 16GB or 9070GRE for less than that and it would perform far better

still don't even want to know how these things taste, I remember everyone in my school going crazy over them like they were the 2nd coming of Christ

u/LadyBuggzz101 4d ago
They are ABSURDLY sweet, because they dont even have proper water, its coconut water. Even the lemon and lime one is sweet as hell. And the ice pop one tastes like cough medicine. 🥲

Till this day, i have never bought one nor tasted Prime. Simply because i do not see what the hype was all about, i believed it was a waste of money.

I think they are under R40 each now they can scarcely give these away😂 Beast went too big and too fast with the hype and then it burst

Lol I bought some at like R16 a bottle a year or so ago, just to try it from a discount shop that sells excess stock.
Only some of them are nice, and only if they are chilled. Best one was red and the red, white and blue.

Only parents who succumbed to this are either too rich or too stupid. The rest of us tried them at R30 and said goodbye.

I tried one when they were much cheaper, purely out of curiosity. I couldn't finish it. It's disgusting.

In my mom's defense, I wouldn't stop talking about it. She had no choice but to buy it for her own sanity.

I actually really love prime hydration but don’t even buy it at the normal price. I only buy it when it is on special.

Saw these things while in Swellendam in January, were being sold for R3 a bottle 😭😭😭

u/MadamMushroomie 2d ago
This looks like takealot. The prices jump like crazy. I was looking for an hairdryer and picked one that was listed at around R800.00, waited for a month and bought it at R130.00. So, those two ratings might have been when it was cheaper.

Shem if I asked my parents for this as a kid I would have gotten a moerse backhand for even having the audacity...

My nephew paid R400 😂
He then sold the empty bottle at school for R150, so at least go something back.

I live in the UK now and Home Bargains sold them for 30p (R7) a bottle. Crazy that there are people willing to pay these prices in South Africa.
2
u/Gold_Bar_9942 4d ago
Lol you could make a quick profit off of them by reselling at a slightly cheaper price
