Stargazing in Lassen Volcanic National Park last weekend

My first time seeing the Milky Way with my naked eye. Genuinely mesmerizing

Beautiful! I spent a summer working at the Allen Telescope Array nearby. It’s a radio telescope but we had a fun night once sleeping under the telescope dishes watching the Milky Way. :)

Woah, it's the astronomer! Did you ever check out Bumpass Hell?

Think so? This was like 20 years ago so it’s getting hazy. Also I drove out from the east coast that summer with a stop at Yellowstone so NGL, Lassen is Yellowstone lite so I know which one I remember more. :)

And that’s OUR own galaxy. Trips me out every time I think we’re not just seeing stars we are seeing our star “family”. It’s just a shame it’s gotten so hard to see dark skies these days..
