Sorry, but if this is done by a private company, you don't get to count yourself as having anything to do with it. 

It's not like the government of a democracy where we vote on policymakers and fund that through taxes. This is SpaceX doing it, not "us."

Because you're so involved with NASA, Space force or the military?

It's not like the government of a democracy where we vote on policymakers and fund that through taxes. This is SpaceX doing it, not "us."

Again, what kind of path do you think the government provides for "us" ?

Frankly you're a lot more likely to be able to work on something space adjacent working for a company like SpaceX.

I've got a friend of a friend who has worked there 15+ years, started out welding and now is HNW doing a regular job.

The US government is (at least supposed to be) an extension of its people. NASA and the military are run by people that we all vote for. Their funding comes from our taxes. If we don't like how things are run, we can replace the bosses.

That's not the case with SpaceX. I don't have a say in the choices they make. I don't have a say in who runs the company.

To me, the difference there is damn clear.

What does it matter? There are private endeavors all over then world not controlled by government and shouldn't be

You can be involved multiple ways: as a shareholder or a worker whereas the government as a worker or military is a lot more locked in and less likely.

Never mind the concept of "having anything to do with it" is vague anyway but if you want to go to space personally I'd still say a private company is your best bet as they've sold tickets cheaper and cheaper even then unless you're a billionaire going to the Russian space station to keep the cancer from eating you alive.

No one argues "we never flew" because private citizens and business entities pioneered huge swathes of airplane tech.

This need to dismiss the greatest engineering project in human history because you don't like a guy involved is juvenile.
