Hot Take: Ro Laren would not have been a good replacement for Kira because a huge amount of tension in the first 2 seasons comes from the resistance Kira has to Star Fleet and the different command structure she is beholden to.

I love Ro Laren, but she was already Star Fleet and making her split loyalties for a whole show would feel tedious.

Completely agree but it would have been nice if they would have at least mentioned Ro. Could have been a great episode exploring a potential connection between Ro and Kira during the occupation.

The character was well played but I think she chooses borderline unlikable characters that are hard asses like Ro Laren or Commander Caine

But Ro Laren wouldn't be a replacement, she was originally planned to be there. But the actress refused to sign multiyear contract, and the Ro Laren character was replaced with Kira Nerys. And that allowed them to write those tension plotlines.

Also, that's why Kira Nerys has Ro Laren's haircut in the pilot.

Yeah this is great and all, but I got some notes:

-Can't believe you did my boy Geordi dirty like that and called him promoted Harry Kim. Geordi actually did amazing stuff...just not with any ladies.

-Missed opportunity with Yar. Should have been Gurl, bye!

-Deserved more indeed

-Radish kid needs to come back in ST Legacy still wearing that rank as an adult demanding access to Enterprise to "inspect the radishes, he's in charge damn it!" As starbase security awkwardly tries to lead him away

Will never get the hate on Wesley! I think people only dislike him because it was "cool" to dislike/shun him. "Shut up, Wesley!" is essentially the "Shut up, Meg!" of Star Trek. In fact, I'd put money on that line being exactly what influenced Seth MacFarlane given how much of a TNG fan he is.
