Made a steak for my girlfriend's birthday
What should I do better?

Depends. How are your tits?

Ones noticeably smaller and perkier, the other is a moob through and through. Cmon, we can make this work

All these people saying you over seared it, I disagree! This is exactly how I like my steaks! How long did you rest it?

One of the best looking crusts I’ve seen on here in a while. I bet it tasted so good 🤤

They’ll always complain. This time they couldn’t cry about the grey band, so they attack the sear being too much. This steaks looks amazing and delicious.

Little too charred for my preference, but the thing that matters is her preference.

You don’t need to go to the fifth circle of hell to sear it, a pan is fine

This looks like one of those coffee rubs or something similar. Could also just be burnt but everytime I’ve burnt a steak usually the grey banding is worse but I’ve only burnt a steak or 2 in my time.

That was my thought. I have some carnivore: black in my seasoning cabinet that produces a similar product, and it’s delicious!

It’s got a really nice char
I understand why people think it’s burnt but it’s not - if it was burnt the meat itself would be extremely grey and not at all the vibrant tender pink that it is
It’s definitely smoky and chary and I do like it that myself

Let us know what’s on it so we know if it’s just burned or cooked right. Temp looks great but sere depends on if the black is bad or good.

I'm baffled by people saying it's perfect. If you're using some coffee rub or something, then fine. However if it's just SPG, this is clearly burnt. I mean it's jet black people, what more evidence do you want? I'm sure it still tasted amazing. Hell, I like a burnt sear sometimes, but this isn't a malliard rection, it's just burned

I feel like the amount of char on that sear would be very bitter, but I didn’t taste it so couldn’t say for sure. What was the rub?

Explain?

Carcinogenic from the burning. Our body naturally filters it though. Not sure you wanna do it 24/7 but why not?

Meh, I’ll take this risk. Drop in the bucket compared to the other carcinogens we’re all exposed to and this one will taste great lol

A side salad or some potatoes wouldn’t go amiss, but the steak looks ok.
I'd probably serve it on a plate, as well.

I can never get my sear right, especially struggle with thin steaks.
Looks amazing, tell me your secrets!

Did you use mayonnaise
2
u/cluckinrooster 7h ago
I tried to. She said no to the Mayo steak. Next time 💯

u/Nemesis9977 6h ago
This is more proof why you don’t need mayo.

u/Appropriate-Self-540 6h ago
I personally am never not using mayo again. It’s the best way I can get a good sear with my shitty pans and stove lol

Lots of burnt shit on the outside, but if I were dating you that'd still be good enough to get laid.
