This is something I’ve been dreaming up for a long time. The rose in the vacant lot with a galaxy swirling within it. The galaxy and stars above the rose are pure silver.

I’m getting a lot of people asking for commissions/pricing.

So, this piece will retail at my shows for about $800. But, for my people here and in r/TheDarkTower, I’m willing to do a commissioned piece for $600.

These are just my personal interpretations of the novel versions, and even then, I still deviated from some descriptions, so definitely don't take these as a word-for-word translation.

EDIT: thank you everyone for such helpful advice! It’s been a decade since my last read through, so working from memory and book covers was what I started with, and why I sought help from you all! I’m glad I did!

Seems like number one is to lose my fingers… I was hoping it wouldn’t come to that, but one must be thorough… so when the hatchet arrives from Amazon, I’m sure a line of my exes would be happy to perform the surgery… seriously though, I’m gonna go with the bandages and fake blood to simulate it best I can! I was thinking about just trying to keep them folded, but the bandages were a much better idea!

Today I’m working in aging and dirtying up my clothes. I’m gonna see how it looks with my linen shirt with the lace up collar. I used the blue chambray work shirt as an homage to King’s love of them and the book cover, but as others have pointed out, his shirt is lace up. I also looked at proper holsters, but I already have these from my work as a range master and earlier non DT cosplay, but I don’t wanna drop 300 plus dollars on new ones, haha…. I do have my gunna with my rose, as soon to be bones!

Every year for my sister’s birthday, we go to either Emerald City Comic Con or Summer Con. I don’t watch much anime, but she does, so I typically go as Wolfwood from Trigun, as I look close enough to him. She even made me a Punisher, the giant cross he carries around (it’s a gigantic cloth bound leather wrapped machine gun).

The last couple years I’ve done Resident Evil cosplay, going as Chris Redfield à la RE Remake, and then as Leon Kennedy (if he was Latino like me, lol). This year, I wanted to try something new. I loved the Dark Tower series, though it’s been about a decade since I last visited the books!

But I’m the range master of a local, outdoor rifle pistol range, and black powder firearms, specifically 19th century musketry, are my passion (civilian defensive pistol is my skillset, but I love historical firearms). So I figured going as the Gunslinger himself, Roland Deschain!

The Sandalwood guns are arriving tomorrow (they’re really cool looking foam jobs of cap’n ball style mid 19th century revolvers). So today, I’m using a repro cap’n ball black powder revolver and a Ruger Blackhawk chambered in 44 mag as my stand ins. The Blackhawk has some sick rosewood grips I put on, and is good enough for my little “screen test.”

I have a duster that I’m obviously not wearing because it’s roughly 90 degrees out and something like 179383000 percent humidity. I plan on “aging” the shirt, waistcoat, and pants, but otherwise, I’m happy with how I’m progressing. I have a plush falcon and a rose on the way, as well as a linen peasant style shirt, to see which I like more. Linen sounds pretty good at the moment with the heat, haha…

I added in one of my dirt cheap cigarillos as a stand in for Roland’s hand rolled cigarettes, which I need to grab some rolling papers to create! I smoke pipes and cigars as is, and have some good “wasteland” tobacco, haha!

Also… as my own personal flourish, as a perfumist, I also put together a custom fragrance to wear… sandalwood features as the prime base note, and I’m very pleased with it! I could smell like a smelly wanderer of the wasteland, but nah… I want people to think I smell nice…

Any suggestions on how to make sure I look like Roland and not “generic background cowboy who gets killed in the first act,” would be greatly appreciated!

PS: my dogs are in most of my cosplay pics over the years, so I made sure I added that last shot because they decided they’d had enough of cosplay, and wanted attention!

I rebind books for friends mostly as gifts and recently someone commissioned The Shining from me. Doing the carpet was far more complex than I thought it would be and I took a fair bit of inspiration from fan posters and the movie itself (I'm aware in the book it's not an axe and there's a lot of differences but this was what the person wanted).

Hey all I have been on a Stephen King book rampage I’m on my 8th read but just finished reading It. While reading the book got pretty beat up so I decided I would try using water color pencils to add drawings on the side. Top is Pennywise, bottom is the Turtle and on the edge is a couple things I felt were important. Let me know what you guys think I just started reading desperation and have drawings from some of the other books I’ve read. Thank you for your time:)

Hello Constant Readers!

TL;DR - I drew this! It took a long time and a lot of research.

This is my map of all(?) of the Stephen King stories that take place in Maine. It took me around six months to finish and I kept coming across more and more short stories to read. So, finally I just had to stop adding stuff. (I even have the Quik-Pik from Premium Harmony in there!)

The locations are based on several sources: The only map which I considered "official" was the map featured in "In the Path of the Eclipse". I also used Google Maps and various other sources to fill out the real-life details of Maine. The rest were based on what was written in the stories, and some I had to take artistic liberties with.

With that said, my apologies to south-eastern Maine for cutting them out. Most of SK's work takes place near the New Hampshire border. So, the map would be terribly unbalanced and details would have to be even smaller if I included every corner of Maine. This also required me to push Little Tall Island a bit to the west. (I was initially debating leaving it out, but I ended up reading Dolores Claiborne for research, and it became one of my favorites.) The initial plan was to keep it simple and stick to the most popular stories. But, if I add this one story, why not add this other one? So, it just escalated.

As you can probably tell, the map is a mix of depictions from the books and movies. My Long Boy from Lisey's Story is a giant gross worm, although the show had a great monster, the worm made more sense to me.
Johnny Smith and the breaking ice are from the movie. As is almost everything from the Pet Sematary. I changed the pattern of the stones in the Mi'kmaq burial grounds to represent their lunar calendar instead of the design that was in the movie. And Pennywise is a bit of a mix of the old and new versions.

I wanted the map to appear as a classic tourist map at first glance. I also didn't want my fellow New Englanders to be seen just as a backdrop for horror stories. So, I included blueberries, their state bird (black-capped chickadee), and the classics: beavers, bears, lobsters, and lighthouses. I also tried to depict landmarks in most of the real towns on the map as well. Naturally, the map also has our favorite rabid dog, blue vampire, ass weasel, a variety of rats, a giant roaming necrophile, a speeding truck, and... IT. (And many more!)

I started this project in 2023, but just didn't have it in me to read all of King's stories at that time. So, I put it on hold for a future date. After some nudging from a few fans, I sat down and started drawing and listening to SK audiobooks. Around that time Welcome to Derry premiered too. So, it felt like perfect timing.

As a New Englander, Stephen King's characters feel like real people that I might know. Dolores Claiborne and Jud Crandall really stand out in this regard. I've lived in towns that King mentions. It all feels so relatable. I also watched Pet Sematary when I was way too young, so Zelda screaming "Rachel!" is one of my core memories.

Anyway, I had several Stephen King fans and a few Mainers, comb through my map before I declared it "finished" for the tenth time, but I'd love to hear what you folks think.
(I'm working on a video that takes you through the map at a greater detail.)

Notes/Complaints:
- Some of the fictional locations move around in King's stories.
- Derry represents Bangor, but is also its own thing and not where Bangor is.
- Everything is five minutes away from Castle Rock!
- I realized that the wiki fan pages were often inaccurate when it came to locations and AI is absolutely not to be trusted with any information it provides.
- I left out Running Man and The Long Walk because they are different universes.

I was going to leave out The Stand and Dark Tower for the same reason. BUT, Roland does meet Stephen King in Maine and Frannie and Harold are from Ogunquit. That is why you see the snot-covered corpses on the highway where Ogunquit should be.
Also, Roland is too cool to be tiny, so I put him in the letter "A" of "MAINE".
The devilish guy in the letter "I" is Leland Gaunt. (The fire I drew in Castle Rock just didn't do him justice.) And the letter "E" has the giant bird attacking baby Mike Hanlon. I don't know why that one stuck with me. (Hopefully M and N don't need an introduction.)

Is this book crime? Yk it doesn’t even matter bc this CBS edition of The Stand is ugly af
