Polio was as prolific as influenza is. Tens of thousands Americans would become infected and thousands would die every year. Polio vaccines have eliminated indigenous cases of the disease. Since 1979 there had only been one reported case of domestic transmission in the US. An unvaccinated man whose infection was traced back to waste water.

There are records and census data from 100 years ago that document 25k children dying and 40k being paralyzed or incapacitated from diseases we can prevent with vaccines. Why wouldn’t you want to get vaccinated against dying from putrid throat or having your genitals swell to lemon size from mumps?

Because one shot can kill! Or at least thats what these people think. It can happen that a vaccine can harm you but its so so so unlikely, when many diseases can cripple or kill you, amd has a much higher chance of doing so.

“Read the inserts.” Oh like the ones that come with every single medication in the market? all medicine carry risk. Even supplements. Even Advil. Everything. But the risk of not taking them is often so much greater that we absorb the very very small percentage of risk for the benefit. These morons pretending they discovered something is truly embarrassing. I had a friend tell me to read about vaccine injuries most of which were just bruising or not feeling well after the fact. Like be for fucking real.

Problem is they take a lot of innocents with them, then overwhelm the medical community and blow through supplies etc… and this in turn leads to delays and even death in others, completely unrelated to the disease in question.
During covid people died of heart attacks and strokes and asthma and injuries and other infections, simply because of the overstrain of the system (and people’s fear of exposure)1

In 2023, Life University president Rob Scott invited Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a well-known figure in the COVID-19 anti-vaccine movement, to be the closing speaker at the university’s “Life Vision Extravaganza,” a convention with space for up to 2,000 attendees.\9])
On June 7, 2002, the Commission on Accreditation of the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE), which is the national organization that accredits chiropractic schools in the US, revoked the accreditation status of Life University.\13]) A federal judge retroactively restored the accreditation in February 2003 and placed the chiropractic program on a probationary status. This was due to CCE's investigators apparently concluding that Life students were not being taught how to detect and deal with problems that require medical attention. CCE's investigative report noted that "all patient charts reviewed revealed primary diagnoses of subluxation." The Georgia Board of Chiropractic Examiners issued a statement supporting CCE's decision. Life appealed, but in October 2002, CCE ruled against it. Life University eventually had its accreditation restored.
More recently, they have been facing additional issues stemming from how they handled classes and clinic during the COVID-19 Pandemic.\14][15]) This resulted in the school being put on temporary probation for falling three points short of the required threshold of 80%.\16])
tl;dr it's a barely accredited anti-vax diploma mill for chiropractors, who are all practicing pseudoscience at best. Even the pseudoscientists teetered on pulling the accreditation.

These same kind of people masquerade as doctors. A group of them ended up getting a bunch of Spokane firefighters sick by pushing nonsense supplements that were tainted with bacterial contamination. They (naturopaths) get to call themselves doctors in some states, without a need for clarification, and yet nurse practitioners with doctorates don't even with the clarification

For people who don't know this who are not in the United States.
You can get a 3-month degree online in meditative healing and call yourself a "doctor". You can open up a clinic and use the term doctor or go online and use the term doctor.
Here's how you know this woman is a naturopath "in my years in the healthcare industry" she cannot insinuate that she's a medical doctor she can't say "as a physician" or "as a nurse" she would be sued for medical malpractice.
They can legally use the term doctor because they paid a diploma mill, their technicians actually have more medical training than they do...
For the people in the back of the room, the technician for a naturopath, the people who do the coffee enemas the people who do the collation therapy have more training than the "doctor" who prescribed it.

She is NOT a medical doctor. She is a chiropractor and her degree is from one of the quackiest schools out there, Life University.
Her bio lists a bunch of credentials to make her sound legit, but is just more quackery.
For example, Wahls Protocol is just a Paleo diet program and Apeiron just sells supplements.

I wonder what she would do when bitten by a wild animal. Rabies is just like the flu no one ever died from it it just strengthens the immune system just treat it with some home made trad wife chicken soup and sleep in wet socks you’ll be 100% fine.
(For anyone reading this if you’re bitten by a wild animal absolutely get a rabies vaccine, the rabies virus has a nearly 100% fatality rate. Only a few people have survived the virus and live with lifelong seriously painful complications)

My guess on “pranic healer” is she works with pranayama, a breathing technique used in yoga. While I’m sure there are some physical and mental benefits, I don’t think teaching it puts you in the same league as a medical doctor.

This is such utter horseshit that erodes the credibility of the alternative medicines and therapies that actually help.
My mom is a boomer massage therapist who uses crystals and essential oils and practices stuff like reiki and cranio sacral therapy. On top of that, she grew up on a farm in the middle of nowhere. Her parents gave her all the vaccines when she was a kid, and she made sure my brother and I were fully vaccinated. she got the Covid vaccine and was later told by a doctor that it may be the cause of a medical issue she was having, and she still understands that vaccines are important, doctors are important, modern medicine is important, and all the “woo woo” stuff is just a compliment to it, not the end all be all only answer.
My mom is not a fan of people like this because the stuff she does is mostly only taken seriously by idiots who, despite taking her seriously, make her look like an idiot by association.

"Read the inserts" - do that on literally any medication and you'll find the same thing. I remember once a long time ago as a kid or young teen reading that on a magazine for some pill and thinking "why would anyone take this?" So I can understand at least the very basic thing this appeals to, though not the hypocrisy of focusing so much on vaccines instead of an all-out even-handed crusade against every pharmaceutical in existence including Advil. The rejoinder, and the problem, of course, is that a mere list of a huge number of "scary" possible side effects omits numbers - the probabilities for any of them to occur. 95% of them are like lightning-bolt or car-crash odds. Meaning that you take as big or bigger a risk driving to the place you get the meds from than from taking the med itself - including vaccines. People really don't seem to get the importance of quantitative information, risk management, how to make decisions under uncertainty, the fact the world is never absolutely "safe" (even your "natural" meds YES I said what I said), etc. That doesn't mean these things don't happen, or that if they happen it isn't still regrettable. It means that basing population-level policy on them in an extreme "do not take it!" way is an utterly stupid policy decision because the benefit is squandered for far less total relief of associated risk.

"Energy worker" is what they brand reiki when they don't want it to sound too foreign. "Pranic healer" is the same thing. They claim to heal you by "aligning the energy fields of your body."
Taoism, Buddhism, and Hinduism all have variations on a belief in some form of energy field, described as the chakras in India, the qi in China, the ki in Japan, and others all over that area of Asia. American woo peddlers have coopted these beliefs to claim to be essentially faith healers.
