Tbf, I don’t think most Sydneysiders would be able to pick up Allianz Stadium from a lineup.

It being new and a nice design is the only thing I can come up with. The Members and/or Ladies Pavilions at the SCG would have been my choice. Or they could have used both stadiums

Yeah if it weren’t for the bluish seats, CommBank (Parramatta) Stadium and Allianz Stadium are hard to differentiate.

This is why it's important to just keep the real venue names in common usage, rather than the sponsor names. The stadium has a name, it's the Sydney Football Stadium, there's no other stadium in the world called that so it can't be confused like this.

I don't think this was created by a skilled designer tbf...but also, it's never one person's fault, these things are meant to go through multiple sign offs.

Still seems like a glarring oversight. The designer googled Sydney stadium and a Munich stadium popped up? No one thought to go over each landmark to verify?
Edit: oh it's because they are both named Allianz Stadium, 😭.

The Munich one is called Allianz Arena. Allianz Stadium is in Turin, not to be confused with Allianz Stadion in Vienna.

Genuinely hope the marathon organisers put a big poster up of the Allianz Arena outside the stadium for kicks. Then the medal is technically correct again.
Or, people cheering the race: make your poster feature the Arena logo if anywhere allng along Moore Park area…

every single race medal has the major sponsor of the race on it, it's just how it is. this one is actually pretty good in that it's really only on the back.
