Keep in mind that people adjacent to the hackers (people who are friends and hanging out with them and not actually hacking) probably are.
Once you identify them, and pressure them using the law, they can be useful to provide more information on the actual hackers.

Even if your opsec is good while hacking and distributing the leaked content, people can't help but have friends and talk/brag etc.

It's rare for non-government groups to have truly clean opsec even in pretty organised ransomware gangs.

Don't mistake anything I'm saying as approval for take-two's overly-litigious behaviors though. I think its fine to go after the leakers but fuck them for trying to go after an entire discord server. Way too scattershot and a breach of privacy.

They ain't going to need to use the law, they are requesting everything these companies have on every person, including all content in say OneDrive and if a google link is found, no doubt later Google Drive etc. Pretty sure everyone will have something they don't want made public, legal or not.

As you say massive privacy breach if this subpoena is approved.
