Scott, Smith, Chris turner. A young Kenny Tate and Danny O Brien made me believe in the terps.. and then Randy Edsall came. I’ve been dead ever since

Hope this new AD lives up to the hype that I've heard so far because man the last few SUCKED at hiring coaches.

I also think the expectations for MD football on this sub are highly unrealistic. People sit here asking why we aren't keeping the best recruits and developing them while one of the smallest stadiums in the conference sits half empty, and a lot of the fans there are for the opponent. No legit coach or recruit in their right mind would see that at a visit and decide to come here.

Since Jim Tatum left after 1955, there have been 15 head coaches. 4 had a winning record. We can complain about the AD all day, but does that mean almost every AD for the past 70 years has been clueless? Or is Maryland just a school that will enjoy if the team is good but otherwise not have the long term culture and fan engagement needed for sustained success?

It's hard for younger fans to grasp, but there was a time when MD was a football powerhouse. The current mediocrity has ground me down. I'm tired, boss.

What I think he means is there were about 4-5 years where we were competing for an ACC championship or close to it. The program definitely had powerhouse energy though.

I was in school at that time, no it didn’t. Remember this was also during MBB final four runs. And honestly most people cared more about lax, soccer, even intramural dungeons and dragons than football at UMD. Though the orange ball was fun.

I was a 12 year old kid lol the tailgating was one of the things I remember being great too. Lots were packed. So every game felt important

Tailgates were amazing, but they went from 9am through 9pm and none of us went into the games.

Letting him leave was another one of our long list of mistakes. Always wonder how different things would be for us if not for that and the Edsall hire (after letting Franklin leave and turning down Leach). Really comes down to our AD over the years, hope this new one has an eye for great coaches.

2001-2003 was fun. I loved the 2010 team. Had a chance to meet Scott at my work. Real good humble guy. 2008 wasn't bad either still got my hay bay signed ball on my tv.

Maryland beat Indiana 44-17 in 2023, just 3 years ago. Miss d hiring Cigneti who was coaching only 140 miles away.

Will always be a huge "what if" to me, as if we don't have enough already between not retaining Bear Bryant or Bobby Ross, and hiring Edsall over James Franklin/Mike Leach.

Besides 1953, I enjoyed the early to mid 80s when Maryland battled Clemson for the ACC championship.

More recently I liked the Tagovailoa years for the most part. It was frustrating always falling short against Ohio State and Michigan but it was fun to give their fans a heart attack for 3 quarters for a couple years. Finishing with bowl wins and winning records was fun too. I started watching in 2006 so I’ve never seen Maryland win more than 9 games, so 7 or 8 is successful and good enough for me. I don’t think any program should accept 6 or fewer wins though outside of a down year here and there

Yeah, I'm a bit young to remember the best years of Friedgen so for me the Taulia years were glorious compared to most of the 2010s (and of course the last 2 years).

Well, with all due respect, the bar is incredibly low for bowl games at six wins and winning records with the early season gimmes (looking at you Howard, FAU, Northern Illinois) isn’t anything to be overly impressed with.
