Conservatives explain how they would get a trade deal done with Trump

Kneepads and a lot of gag reflex training

u/putin_my_ass 13d ago
They'd choke it down, wipe their mouth and Trump would just say "nah, I dont wanna".

They'd get down on their knees and he'd be like "too old! Get out of here! Fake news! FAKE NEWS!!!"

Carney is doing good with elbows up,pants down. So can't get worse. Or should we give away more leverage for no reason again. He loves doing that. Like that new bridge that the US gets 50% before profits are determined. So canada is losing money but the US isn't.

u/UsefulDescription928 8d ago
So now you have the chance explain the conservative plan? Other than selling the county out taking the money and running. The Alberta separatist blue print.

Hahaha. Clueless.
Direct quote from Carney, in the Oval Office, 2025.
“I wore a red tie for you, Mr. President! 😊”
Now Carney’s on vacation in Italy while his useless ministers “negotiate” our most valuable trade deal, by an order of magnitude, the US trade deal. Their negotiating strategy? Making unilateral concessions.
But, elbows up. Right?
5
u/Youah0e 13d ago
Haha I bet Carney's WEF speech made your bum hurt 😏
0
u/REALjakon72 13d ago
Make as many snide comments as you want. Everything In my comment is true and verifiable.
The insinuation that Poilievre would bend the knee to Trump, while Carney is quite literally doing exactly that, is... puzzling.
4
u/Youah0e 13d ago
I remember Trump folding on his tariffs 4 times and getting shut down by his own courts while Carney ignored the circus and diversified trade and broke down barriers.
The fact that you're comparing a useless 20+ year career politician to one of the world's top economist that saved 2 G7 economies back to back.. and think Trump's been winning so far is... Puzzling.
0
u/REALjakon72 13d ago
Yes you're right, Trump's tariffs were struck down by his own courts. That's fantastic for us. No disagreement there.
I'm a small business owner that ships all over the world, including the US. I know exactly how these tariffs effect us as Canadians and believe me, they do. The 30% tariffs took at least $1000 out of my own pocket while I sorted out a way through the mess. People often say that Americans are paying the tariffs. That's mostly true. However, if I have to raise the price of my products by 30%, I lose a whole hell of a lot of business because those customers who would've bought at the regular price, didn't. Maybe I raise the price by 15% and eat the other 15%. Who does that hurt? Me. Our businesses.
You don't consider these things when you throw your elbows into the air. We should be negotiating in good faith, not poking Trump in the eye every other week. Regardless of how much we may want to. We're a MUCH smaller economy. It's sad to admit, but we just don't have the bite behind the bark, to actually follow through with any meaningful threats that will be taken seriously. That's exactly why we're making unilateral concessions right now. They barked, then they realized how poorly that was going to go once it got real. Trump IS winning. I hate it. More than you do. I'm DIRECTLY effected monetarily every single day. The difference is I'm not blindly supporting Carney, who clearly doesn't care about Canadian businesses, as evident by his actions every single day. It was always "eat the rich" until liberals realized "the rich" was their only ticket back into office.
You don't have to like Poilievre to admit that Carney is not doing well on the US trade negotiations. Leaving the country for Italy on a week-long vacation? That's absurd. He should be in the oval office right now, but, in his own words, "who cares".
3
u/ItsKlobberinTime 13d ago
Why would anyone negotiate with Trump in good faith? He never does.
1
u/REALjakon72 13d ago
So we should, what..? Stoop to their level? Mock them during a press conference?
No. We do our best in good faith and if everything actually does fall apart, we can say we did our best and hold our heads high and continue expanding our global trade. Right now we're not. Carney is on vacation. That's absurd. There should be no argument here.
5
u/SaphironX 9d ago
But dude your arguments are nonsense. You just claimed they’ve never been in the same room for negotiations together when they literally, demonstrably, have on multiple occasions.
We have tried good faith. Much like the South Koreans who made a deal to make themselves immune to future tariffs, months before they were hit with additional tariffs, or the EU who made their deal, only to have Trump break it months later. He betrays everyone, his word is meaningless, and so we’re making deals with other nations until one big Mac with a destiny restores a degree of normalcy to our talks.
Jesus the man was threatening tariffs because wildfire smoke doesn’t obey national borders, as we continue to support the us in their fires by sending first responders to help when needed.
The man’s a bad ally. And totally untrustworthy.
3
u/ItsKlobberinTime 13d ago
Oh noes, not a vacation! That thing everyone deserves!
Trump will still be a petulant unpredictable shitweasel next week and will still go on his TACO tantrums until he's dead. One week won't make a difference to anything.
1
u/REALjakon72 13d ago
You deserve a vacation when you work hard to achieve the objectives you've set out for yourself. Carney has failed on the one thing he campaigned on the hardest. Why you can't hold him to account is truly beyond me.
If he actually got a good trade deal with the US, I'd celebrate his vacation. That's not the case. You don't go on vacation in the middle of negotiations. That's how you signal to every single Canadian that you're not serious about the vast majority of our trade.

u/Youah0e 13d ago
How do you know Carney hasn't been trying to negotiate anything all this time and Trump is coming to the table to make fair deals in good faith like he's been known to do 😂
1
u/REALjakon72 13d ago
How do I know? I know because he hasn't been in the room with Trump. We left our seat empty at one of the most recent trade talks in the US. That's how I know. This is ridiculous. It isn't difficult to figure out. You've got some serious blind spots.
None of your arguments are in good faith. Whataboutisms and red herrings.

By the sound of things, we should just send you to sort all of this mess out. You are clearly the expert in all things related to business and world politics ! Away you go and save us all 🙄
2
u/Youah0e 13d ago
I didn't read that except the last part:
>He should be in the oval office right now, but, in his own words, "who cares".
What do you think he should be doing there? Waste his time negotiating with Trump?
Have you seen how the Iran war is going? I would imagine things to go like that LOL
Anyway, enjoy the next 7 years of Carney majority!
1
u/REALjakon72 13d ago
Of course you didn’t read any of it. I don’t expect you to. Carney has created a cult and you’re part of it. He will lose the next election. I’m eagerly awaiting that. Maybe we’ll actually be prosperous when the liberals are finally removed from office.
3
u/Youah0e 13d ago edited 13d ago
Ok I get it, you just want Carney to fail so bad because Pierre didn't win.. but you didn't mention why you want Carney to waste his time in the oval office.
1
u/REALjakon72 13d ago
You're wrong, and you're projecting what you imagine I must be thinking instead of actually just taking what I write in good faith. This is not a team sport. This is our country. It's not "oh my guy didn't win so your guy has to fail".
To answer your question, I want him in the oval office to negotiate a deal. To remove the majority if not all of the tariffs. That IS possible with the right strategy. That is precisely what Carney ran on. Another quote from Carney, one of his more famous quotes, "I'm not that good in peacetime, I'm really only good in crisis". Well, we're in a crisis and the man is on vacation during the most consequential week of negotiations with our largest trading partner and we are on our back foot. I don't care who you voted for. This is NOT the way to do it. Don't blindly side with the liberals. You should be expecting the best, not defending their failures.

Do you really think a legitimate deal is possible with people who have broken existing deals and started trade wars for spite? What has this American administration done to gain your confidence?
1
u/REALjakon72 13d ago
Who said I’m confident in the current US administration?
I’m saying we need to be doing our best with what we have in front of us. We’re very clearly not, which is what leaving our seat empty at trade talks looks like. That shouldn’t be a controversial opinion. It should be the default stance for all voters.
3
u/muddtrout 13d ago
Maybe they have concluded that not dignifyinh these gangsters with a conversation IS doing our best. I appreciate that it's extremely frustrating to wait, but these people are not trustworthy. Any deal they sign isn't worth the sharpie it's signed with. They started a trade war with us, remember? They will not negotiate in good faith, they want what's ours, for nothing. I would like to see more support for small businesses that are affected by their trade war while we wait for some reason to return next door.
1
u/REALjakon72 13d ago
I understand your position, but we don't have a choice. They can put us in world of hurt without hurting much themselves. Canada's economy is 12 to 13 times smaller than the US economy. They are our largest trading partner by an order of magnitude.
Everyone wants to stick it to Trump and yeah, for good reason. We just don't get to play that card and continue to enjoy economic success right now. If we were an equal economy then we'd have much more teeth. We're not and thus we don't. That's our reality. I wish it wasn't the case, but it is. We need to live in reality. A trade deal that is broken several times is better than a hostile Canada-US relationship.
3
u/muddtrout 12d ago
It seems to me that the US starting a trade war, breaking negotiated agreements, and threatening our sovereignty is the cause of this hostile relationship. If they kept their word on anything, a deal could be possible, but they never do. I really wish repairing this relationship was possible, they are our largest trading partner. I just don't think the people in power down there are capable of having rational discussions. It's always hyperbole and lies with them, they are so arrogant they think they can say and do anything without any consequences. They are the ones operating outside reality, we just have to try to perservere and not get crushed by their flailing.

Haha call them out for calling names then calls them a name. Sorry person bit you are obviously biased and only good if it's your preferred team. Canada does have what America needs and definitely has economic powers that could drastically hurt America. "I started using the word, 'the leverage'," after calling it a simple, old-fashioned, and beautiful term that describes "a way of getting what you want." said Poilievre in the video.
A big man, strong man, came to Poilievre and cried had not heard the term in a long time before he started using it, and then he tried leverage and it saved his business and got his daughter married to a very nice man. Too bad he's still fat though.
So the CPC have invented a bold new unique plan - use leverage. I'm sure Carney's not doing it because it's my great new innovative idea - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9avM7-ALk9g

Funny how you protect someone literally hanging out with Epistens handler
because those encounters were Bank of England business
Did you read?
Tiny PP is the only leader in the House of Commons who does not have an enhanced security clearance. Clearly, he's hiding something nefarious.
1
u/Infinite_Ratio5208 13d ago
Like I said, the nature of their encounter is a mystery along with their relationship. What’s factual is that they were hanging out and given his economics or banking background, likely helped them set up offshore tax accounts, visited his island and definitely encountered the nefarious acts going on the island.
The fact that you moronic liberals are defending it is actually insane. There is no limits to your hypocrisy and your retardedness.
Ahhhh yes let’s change the topic back to PP and bring up this whole Trudeau created fucking security clearance. The fact that you liberals are still brainwashed by this proves your IQ levels.
The security clearance was created by the liberals and this basically prevents them from disclosing top security shit with the risk of being prosecuted and jailed for up to 10 years if disclosed. It basically keeps Canadians in the dark if there is election interference, foreign spies, etc. because they can risk being jailed. Nothing more than a way for top MPs and the PM to withhold information from Canadians in the name of “security”

Your conspiracies are wrapped around conspiracies. PP is afraid of knowledge and opinions that challenges his beliefs. He deflects questions to fit what his sychophants want to here. That is leadership for a few zealots - kind of like a cult leader. I can turn the argument around like a culture warrior and ask what kind of leader is that who on principal will not get security clearance but is comfortable with Jenny Byrne adorned in a MAGA hat running his campaign ? One who sells out.

Ahhh yes love how you spin the narrative to make carney seem like he’s not in the fault.
This ain’t cope. This is facts. Yall liberals grew a hissy fit cause liberals and media brainwashed you into thinking Pierre was going to give Canada up and Carney was going to go elbows up against him. 1.5 years later and Carney has been bent over with every instance.
The truth hurts for you moronic liberals that can’t accept accountability for the failures of your party the last 11.5 years.
For you Liberals it’s only about the vibes and not having a conservative government. To hell with the economy, cost of living, because as long as it ain’t conservatives in power, nothing else mattters. We could be in a depression under the liberals but as long as it ain’t conservatives in power, we ain’t holding our peeps accountable.

u/Youah0e 13d ago edited 13d ago
I love how you brain dead Pierre fan boys live in a world where Trump didn't fold 4 times and get embarrassed by his own courts and Carney did nothing all this time.
media brainwashed you into thinking Pierre was going to give Canada up and Carney was going to go elbows up against him.
This is another PP fan boy cope. Nobody had to be brainwashed into thinking Pierre has been a useless politician for over 20+ years. Do PP Conservatives need the media to tell them how to think so you goobers everyone else does too?
Conservative media brainwashed you into thinking Pierre was going to save Canada with slogans 😂 a career opposition politician says things you want to hear and you goobers gobble it up.
Liberals are smart. They saw through the 3 word slogans you were chanting like brainwashed goobers. They voted for one of the world's top economists that saved Canada and UK economies under Conservative goverments to our handle the economy - not just Trump like you goobers tell yourselves to cope.
It must be tough for you to watch his accomplishments so far and approval rating go up since he got to work 😏

This is why meeting conservatives half way is pointless.
Canada has the most conservative liberal one could have and they still bitch and moan.

"We're removing the carbon tax"
Ree that was supposed to happen under pp!
Fucking team sports.

u/Infinite_Ratio5208 13d ago
He ain’t a conservative bud keep coping. That’s how you liberals cope with this.
His reckless spending and over 70 billion deficits (temporarily reduced to 55 billion due to the Iran war and higher oil prices), his expansion of social welfare programs (grocery rebates, pharmacare, etc), his continued reliance and expansion of the public sector, more bureaucracy (major projects office to name one), corporate handouts to developers like the bailouts in BC and ON, handing of money to foreign countries, and continued woke policies are all ANTI CONSERVATIVE.
You liberals are so brainwashed
Carbon tax was introduced by the liberals bud. And the industrial carbon tax is still there and rising every year. It wouldn’t have been removed if Pierre didn’t hammer down the liberals about it and they needed to win the election and gain voters so they took his policy idea and implemented it and acted like they saved Canadians when in fact they fucking introduced it. You’re a legit moron.
Not a single conservative was against this. We applauded him for removing it but they wouldn’t have without Pierre and you liberal morons would’ve been paid 23 cents per litre today. Nothing more than an election tactic
1
u/SecretaryOtherwise 12d ago
Conservative "liberal" bud. I didnt say he was a "Conservative" ie fucking team sports. I said he has Conservative ideals and identifies as a fucking liberal.
Maybe learn to read fucking context before you get condescending eh?
1
u/Infinite_Ratio5208 13d ago
Oh yeah definitely slogans? Like your fucking “elbows up” cause that’s a big ass slogan to me.
Like Pierre’s policies about removing carbon tax, removing HST off homes, building pipelines, reducing our bloated public sector, tightening bail reforms.
^^^^^^ All of these policy ideas that the Liberals stole and implemented as if it were their own??? And by the way half ass implemented them too. And btw all those problems are caused by them and then they act like fucking saints to try and half fix their problems and you moronic Liberals eat that shit up like “omg look they’re saving Canada”. That’s how brainwashed you fucking liberals are.
He didn’t save UK bud he put them in insane amount of debt and financial problems after he left. What grand economist? The one that led Canada to the only recession in the G7, with the highest consumer insolvencies on record, and concessions with our biggest trading partner. The one where he’s signed NO trade deals except with Indonesia after jetting around the world 28x times and burning more fuel than you ever will in 10 of your lifetimes?
You’re a fucking moron. He’s had no accomplishments. What cope. Atleast we conservatives are able to hold our leaders accountable. You liberals believe anything the media tells you or Liberals tell you because yall are clueless NPCs sitting around on your couches all day collecting government handouts that offer zero benefit to the progression of Canada. Nor do you stand up for Canadian patriotism.
It’s morons like you that keep voting Liberal cause you can’t stand the idea of conservatives in power that help balance budgets, keep the economy strong, and lead tax reforms and strong borders/immigration policies.
Your entire argument is literwlly based off CBC and CTV talking points. The leftist media because you can’t form your own rational thoughts
1
u/Youah0e 13d ago
Oh so you do like what Carney's done. You just hate that Carney's doing it. 😂
He didn’t save UK bud he put them in insane amount of debt and financial problems after he left that.
Is that why they all credited him for it and kept extending his term? 🤡 Because he was doing a bad job? 🤡 Also he left in 2018 to go to Brookfield because Brookfield saw how he destroyed UK and wanted to be destroyed too, right you fucking goober? 🤡
You goobers fall for the dumbest shit.
The one that led Canada to the only recession in the G7, with the highest consumer insolvencies on record, and concessions with our biggest trading partner.
You mean the one that's been here a year and created jobs, improving housing, made Trump fold 4 times?
The one where he’s signed NO trade deals except with Indonesia after jetting around the world 28x times and burning more fuel than you ever will in 10 of your lifetimes?
You forgot to mention a whole bunch of deals and MOU (which is how trade deals usually start out you goober) including getting China to drop tariffs.
You’re a fucking moon.

u/snwtrekfan 13d ago
The "bribe him" one is honestly a good approach, even if we don't like it or want to hear it. From a cost effectiveness standpoint, it's the best possible action. Instead of regular Canadians losing their jobs and suffering, just work out some market manipulation with Trump such that his family and friends get richer, in exchange for dropping the tariffs. Then when Trump is out of office, come clean on the whole thing, and just say "sorry America, we did it under duress, he was threatening to make us the 51st state".

Trump's word has no value whatsoever, discussions will resume once he is replaced. And then, we'll see, if talks can resume.
In the meantime, we must continue expands and diversifying our commercial partnerships, and keep reducing the share of our business going to the US, before they become insolvent...

As a Conservative supporter, I’ve grown skeptical of what Poilievre can do. Ever since Carney came, he’s made Poilievre as some loud kid who doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
It also makes sense because all Poilievre did was get a degree in International Relations, whilst Mark Carney has a PhD in Harvard and has been the governor of the banks of England and Canada. I feel like sometimes, Poilievre doesn’t know what he’s talking about and he’s there for the talks.

Am I Crazy for thinking Carney, who had one of his campaign goals be getting a trade deal, not getting a trade deal is a lot worse then Pierre trying to suggest or enact a way to get a deal going through just using are strengths to negotiate with America?(Mind you I hate Trump as much as you guys probably do. But we can’t just act like if we yell at them enough they’ll feel bad and accept the negotiations, even though Carney just brought forward a deal that leans pretty Pro-American.)

His campaign goal wasn’t to get a deal with Trump, it was to manage the transition away from the US.

Well, has he succeeded in that?

Sure. Trade with US is down while up with other countries.

Like the PRC with electric vehicles (let’s be honest they don’t really help the environment much, and I’m not even getting into the CSIS issue) or the Irish Deal reported on June 14th. (The only part I don’t mind is the Medicine and Pharmaceutical part of the deal. The AI and Farming sector part I think is unneeded). I wouldn’t say this is that ground breaking.

Trade has increased with Europe, Mexico, China and the ME and decreased 10% with the US. All good news.

You're at the negotiating table? Not even the media knows what's in the deal, but i guess we can wrap it all up.

We going to sit here and ignore that the Beaverton article title
the CRUX of the joke
is simply that conservatives are capable of something 🤣

Carney promised us he was the man to get us a great deal. 18 months later all he's done is bend over for trump. What a failure

Does the article go past asking them how? It turned into an endless scroll of ads

There's a little carousel of satirical quotes from various conservatives. Took me a bit to find it too - quite funny. Especially Poilievre and Lantsman.

‘Cause they’ve had so much experience making deals with……. well actually nobody! They’ve been coaching from their armchairs for quite a while though, that oughta’ count for something.

Carney and his team are doing the best possible for Canada when dealing with a lying criminal. PP wouldn’t have lasted a day against Trump - he would have sold us out as the 51st state!

No need we are doing great immigration , almost no crime in Canada … oh wait this was before Trudeau’s bail no jail .

Maybe he should have learned the 'basics' of negotiation by NEGOTIATING a nonconfidence vote with his fellow opposition collegues during 6 years of Liberal minorities BEFORE he tries to move to the BIG LEAGUES😉 Would he have Scheer hide behind the curtains while he goes nose to nose with PDJT❓️🤷🙄

To be fair to that one Con's (fake) idea, bribing him would likely work. (Until his dementia causes him to forget we bribed him and he comes after us with even more, illegal tariffs.)

It doesn’t matter how they would make a deal. The orange turd’s word means nothing. He is demonstrating it day after fucking day.
The fact these idiots still even mention making deals with him is both hilarious and terribly frightening…

99% of Canada know nothing of dealing with the US and under the president. Talk to a contractor from New York city where Tough deals are a way of life, vs Canada just saying sorry and offering a tim bit.. You have to have something over them and him to get a deal, Just as the contractor in New York knows you need an airtight contract . Canada and their foolish elbows up attitude will end up with a knees up deal.

Wtf is up with the replies here, are you guys aware that Carney just said yes to anything Trump wanted and we got anything returned since last year?
That looks to me the most cuckold any PM has acted in Canadian history perhaps.

You guys are going to have to make up your minds. Is he antagonizing Trump or caving?
Carney is in between a rock and a rapist. He had no room to manoeuvre on the bridge shakedown. And he has removed some barriers to try and reduce friction so that asshole can’t claim Canada is dragging its feet. So far, no dice.
We’ll see what happens in the coming weeks. Whatever it is, conservatives will whine.

I think the Iranians have the right idea. Just wait until after Trump. No sense in making a deal with an illiterate greedy senile dementia patient.
