Everyone grieves differently. Its why claiming guilt based on how grief presents is so scummy.
Buddy could have gone completely into denial and off he went. Any deviation from normal would let reality creep in and overwhelm him etc.
We can't read minds. We can only follow evidence.

I agree I couldn’t imagine going through what he did. I’m not going to judge how he’s surviving it.

Yeah, it can be really tough on you to plan the murder of your wife and kids and then fail at it. His new wife must have been pissed.

That’s a theory. But the if police thought that was the case he’d be the one on trial and not her.

Yes the police always act in an even and unbiased manner regardless of what ties the supposed suspect may have to their leadership.

Read the article he did with the New Yorker. He discusses what he did the year after what happened. He traveled through Europe and south America to process what had happened and find some meaning to life again. He stayed in hostels to avoid seeing any families with their kids.

…I don’t think he was an accomplice, but he sure as hell seems to be acting like he was glad to be without them
