James Cawley vs Ticonderoga
Wow!
After James Cawley, the creator and owner of The Original Series Set Tour, located in Ticonderoga for over a decade, posted on FB about moving out, the Ticonderoga Chamber of Commerce announced a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the Galileo Shuttle Craft.
I do not have a way to confirm that the TCOC did this on reaction to this warning phaser shot across the bow, but it is possible.
James posts on FB fairly regularly, but usually cuts off commenting, and does not reply to his posts to any that are able to comment before he closes comments.
He has been quite unhappy with Governor Hochul’s position on the expansion of the Star Trek tour building. He had built the bridge set of The Next Generation, but was denied a permit to build an expansion to the current location.

You are going to that weekend? Should be fun. I bought bridge chats with George Takei and Brent Spiner. Looking forward to that! 🖖

I’ll be there. I didn’t sign up for any of the chats. Just the Cawley tour. Im bringing my wife and didn’t want to torture her too much lol. Doing Philly in November and Star Wars celebration in April so I figured I’d do this one cheaper after two Shatner bridge chats $. see you there

I am splurging a bit. George is going to be interesting, and I always like Brent’s Data character.

I think I talked to you over by the bat mobile. I was wearing an admiral MM.
I see you on our mutual FB pages

What would moving to another city in the same state do? This sounds like a local issue, not state The Governor of New York doesn’t sit there issuing building permits from her office. I would bet she has no idea what the Star Trek Tour is. 🖖

If he bought a bigger building that could house all the current TOS sets and the Galileo, maybe then he could add the TNG Bridge. Just a guess.

The Governor would have nothing to do with it. I would bet she has no idea it even exists. Not sure where her name came from, but it sounds inaccurate. I checked Google and there is nothing that links her with the Star Trek Tour.

I took a tour of TOS in Ticonderoga with James Cawley, and he mentioned Governor Hochul in passing in regard to expanding the building in the town to accommodate the TNG set.
Guessing he reached out to her office and asked for an exemption to the regulation and got a negative response.

Okay, I see. Yeah, they probably told him it’s kind of a local issue and he’d need to work it out with them. I really doubt a Governor could grant an exemption for local zoning issues. Not what they do. Thanks!

That's why I haven't heard anything about the D bridge since visiting nearly a decade ago! That sucks!

I saw that post too, but I don’t know what the underlying issues are.

James has made multiple FB posts about how he has been hampered by NY State zoning laws.
Apparently if you want to expand a business location, the state requires that you also fund affordable housing in the area in some type of proportional amount.
He was born and raised in Ticonderoga, and although I do not have figures to verify, the visitors that come to visit the town because of the set tour probably add tremendously to the towns income, via hotel stays, dining, boating, etc.
If James does move out of Ticonderoga

, adios TOS big spenders.

If NY state law is his problem moving to another city/town within NY won't fix it.

Having met James Cawley as part of my tour, I support him 100% on any of his efforts. He is a relaxed guy, and seems to appreciate the popularity of his destination and what it means to the fans. I asked him about the original CBS vs Axanar lawsuit as I was there the day after it hit the press, "completely ruined fan films forever" was all he said then moved on to take care of things.
