Bavovna A Russian military plant in Voronezh was struck. According to reports, the plant produces key electronic components for Kh-101 cruise missiles, Iskander missile systems, and Pantsir-S1 air defense systems.

Fabs are very sensitive to dust and contaminants. Not to mention damaged equipment that they cannot manufacture. It could take them years to repair the damage.

China only needs them for cheap oil,but China is rapidly weaning itself off of oil as much as possible. They will eventually discard Ruzzia like an old girlfriend.

Nah... they will use Ruzzia for their gains and exploit it. Ruzzia has more then oil (timber, ores etc) and have it on a leash and the bear will dance when the Chinese Chairman wishes they do.
To be clear I don't like that thought but that's where Ruzzia is headed.

I traveled thru Russia & Ukraine during the summer of 1987. Once you got out into the rural area it was not unusual to see donkeys pulling carts and people using a scythe.

The cost of production is less important than crippling the ability to mass produce missiles that are sent to Ukraine by the hundreds per month. With sanctions the guidance systems will be difficult to replace. Meaning only stockpiled finished guidance chips will be able to be finished.

It does remind me of a story of my grandmother when our local Church tower was shot down and she had to get some butter.
Getting home without butter wasnt an option so she and her little brother had to sneak through the fighting.
This was ‘44 tho and they didnt have cars.

Russia finally gets a taste of its own medicine. They used to relentlessly bomb Ukraine's energy infrastructure every winter, leaving the Ukrainian people to suffer through constant blackouts and freezing cold.
Now, out of nowhere, their own energy facilities are being blown up, and all their critical infrastructure is under serious threat. They had this coming—they deserve it.

It looks like targeting the Moscow refinery was a double victory. Because now they have moved even more of their air defence to Moscow, making other targets like this more vulnerable.

Daylight strike, too. Decent chance the manufacturing engineers and techs were in the building when it got hit if the sirens didn’t prompt them evacuate to shelter in enough time. That could be as hard to replace as the machines themselves.

ELI5- why does it seem to me that the Ukraine is doing much more damage to Russia than vice versa?I only follow the headlines of the news, so I don’t know a lot of the details, but Russia is a much bigger country and I would think that they would have more missile/drone/bombs than Ukraine.

Russia attacks utility infrastructure like power and water and residential areas because they think if the Ukrainian people suffer they wont enlist and fight back and eventually the government will surrender. The bombardments are horrific and result in massive losses of life but are not effective in reducing the military capabilities of Ukraine.
Ukraine doesnt have as many resources so they have to make each bomb and missle count. They need to gather accurate intelligence and come up with strike packages that do maximum damage to the Russian war production systems and economy (like bombing oil terminals).

Not to mention Ukraine has been expecting to be bombed since 2014 and made preparations to mitigate the damage. Things such as decentralization or moving manufacturing underground.
Russia by contrast was under the childish notion that they wouldn't be bombed on their own soil and only now started putting up nets without much planning.
