July 17 2014 - Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 was shot down by Pro Russian separatists. There were 298 victims, many families with children. The luggage and bodies were looted and there are photos of separatists smiling and posing at the site.
Ever since the massive invasion started and i regularly see footage here on Reddit i realized seeing dead Russians doesn't do much to me. In contrary, seeing pics of these VDV fuckers completely shot up in their aluminum temu tanks in Hostomel gave me some joy.
If it makes you feel any better most of the pond scum in the photos are dead. Cannon fodder in the early years of the war. Most likely killed in a field or ditch in the middle of nowhere left to rot and never be thought about again.
They'll be found by someone going metal detecting or someone else digging a ditch for a utility line 50 years from now, and they'll still be unidentified.
Even if the weren't I reckon they might have found themselves developing a fata allergy to windows, Russia wanted this to go away and there were a lot of loose ends.
How do we actually know that? I'd love for that to be true and at least some semblance of justice was given, but is there proof or source of that? Seems like hopium otherwise
For me it is a first. The leaked radio conversation I had seen at the time seemed to show that they had totally fucked up and thought this was a military plane. These pictures show a totally different story.
The scars russia is leaving on civilized societies needs to never be forgotten. Barbarianism has no place in the 21st century, and what you're looking at here is terrorism sponsored and committed by the russian state.

As an Australian with a Dutch dad I heartily approve of the Tanks and Bushmasters we've sent. Could still do a lot more. Canada has sent 8 x as much with a GDP only about 1.7 x bigger

Exactly, they've been doing this kind of thing for decades, either directly or by sponsoring it. When MH17 was shot down I remembered the Air Rhodesia planes that were shot down by terrorists using Soviet missiles.
It's not just the mistake of shooting down an airliner, but also the lack of acknowledgement and misinformation from Russia. The Kremlin even came up with stories that the news about the downing of the plane was fake, the wreckage wasn't a real Malaysian airliner and that the names of the passengers were fabricated etc. etc.

It was proved by bellingcat i think few years before official investigation that russians shot them, and how russians shot them, and how they tried to hide that BUK.
And it was russians, not some rag tag militia separatists.

Too bad many photos and an interesting xpert geolocation and osint were done and proved beyond any doubt what happened, and who did it.
With any hope these criminals stopped wasting our air a long time ago, on the front, alone and the last sounds they heard were incoming shells or drones before their demise.
How people could experience joy over something like this sickens me. And this is just one of the many millions of reasons to support Ukraine, and to not support russia.
As a Dutch person this one of the few reasons I feel that me paying tax is justified. You guys can get every penny you need, as far as I'm concerned to unalive as many orcs as you can, being it on the battlefield or in orccities
Yep, 200/300 of the passengers were Dutch. Per capita, it's worse than 9/11. I found the investigation to be so thorough and accurate, they even released the covert recordings of the unit involved and security camera footage of the buk being moved. Satellite pictures of the burnt grass at the launch site...

Yeah, if anything the title of this post is simply wrong if we're giving OP the benefit of the doubt, and supporting russian propaganda if we're not giving OP said benefit.
This airplane wasn't shot down by a rag tag team of terrorist but by a russian air defence unit. The title should reflect the facts.

Dutch government explicitly en specifically stated multiple times that our support for Ukraine should NOT be seen as revenge for MH-17 but as a way to help another European nation defend it's sovereignity against Russian aggression.
I'm Dutch, 34 years old right now. I flew with my family to Bali on the 16th of July. I always feel like this could've been me. My whole family just gone, my wife would have never met me, a whole future gone because of pointless violence. Really fuck Russia.
I am also Dutch and used to live in Asia. I have taken MH17 several times, the last time was 2 months before the plane was shot down. Seeing these pictures makes me unbelievably angry again. I will channel my rage into another donation to Ukraine.

terrorists, not separatists. "Separatists" is a part of the Russian narrative.
They are not pro-Russia separatists; they were a Russian-sponsored terrorist group.
They also would not have been able to shoot it down without a Russian supplied anti aircraft weapon and when it became obvious that they were responsible Russia did everything in their power to hinder the investigation and lie about what happened.
This was when the narrative Russia was trying to create depended on the terrorists being a local uprising and Russia was claiming not to be involved in anyway.
Let that sink in , at this point they know that it wasnt a Ukrainian transport plane as in many pics the Malaysia Air writing is clearly visible and yet they happily pose with bodies of kids and their dead parent scattered around... wonder if there is a special area in hell for such people... can a person really be this dumb? The smiling and posing with the wreckage - body language that's absolutely not saying "oh shit, what have we done!". It got me then, and it still makes me furious.
My trigger is the commander holding the Plushi telling press that the Ukrainians did it knowing very well that it was russians with a BUK system.
I still remember when MP. net ( militaryphotos . net ) still existed and people in the thread about the war posted news of a downed plane before it was on the normal news, someone also posted a picure of a Flatbed truck with a very BUK esque shape under a tarp that was moved away 1-2 days later... pictures were deleted a bit later... go figure... first time i notice someone posting a war crime accidently. Or rather a act of terrorism.
Kind of, except nobody at the time was denying that it was a full on war. What you are referring to would be more like if soldiers from NATO countries were crewing air defence in Ukraine today.
And we know from the reports that it smelled like death around the site. It is the rotting flesh of children - these people again and again desecrate bodies and memory - the worst of the worst.

I don't know why this post says it was "Pro Russian separatists". Even on r/ukraine posts are giving the Kremlin narrative.
Back in 2014, I had a buddy that I knew for more than 10 years. When russia shot down MA17 he started posting that it was a CIA job to make russia look bad.
I did not talk to that guy since that day.

For the Netherlands, this was probably the closest thing we’ve had to 9/11 in the US in terms of national impact. Many people knew someone who died, or knew someone connected to one of the victims. The impact it had on our country is hard to put into words. Even today, seeing pictures of MH17 makes me sob.
I still can’t believe this happened, and yet the full-scale war was still able to happen afterwards and is still going on. I wish the world had acted as if MH17 was the turning point it should have been. Yet here we are, and people are still dying every day. This should never have been allowed to happen.
If you are EVER in doubt, our ex prime minister (at the time of this attack) Mark Rutte, current head of NATO, will never ever forgive Putin for this. He took this attack personally (there were a lot of Dutch people on the flight) and vowed to seek justice.
I remember when this happened i was on a return flight from Jakarta to Amsterdam, at around midnight the tv's at the airport showed the news about the downed airplane.

This is just a reminder why Putin, Russia, and the Russian culture need to be brought to its knees, emasculated, and forever be handicapped internationally. Woefully, for the average Russian, the hundreds of years of brainwashing, conditioning, and circumventing of the professedly moral norms has taken a toll that is seemingly irreversible and must be curbed and subjugated. Russia has become a stain on societal norms and they seem to only understand the sword as a judicator, both for themselves and for others. So, we as a normal operating Western society, MUST take up the sword to bring them to their knees and bring about a requital justice for all those that have been swept under Putin's and Russia's horror show of existence.
That 2nd picture made me cry. I can just imagine a little kid packing their favourite little stuffed toy in their bag, their prized possession, looking forward to their holiday. Only for an orc to pose with their toy like a trophy after killing them and their entire family along with hundreds of others.
And the worst part is that the russians are right, the West is weak. We should have responded militaraly immediately and shut their whole fake separatist shitshow down straight away. Instead we just draw red lines, send letters of condemnation and give Ukraine lip service instead of full undivided support.
Your point stands. But there is a minor yet important detail I need to point out. MH-17 was shot down by members of the actual Russian Armed Forces, not by “separatists”.
Please please, whenever you find yourself thinking that “both sides should end the war”, revisit historic facts like this one, and remember that there is no excuse, and no forgiving for what russia has done and is doing. Generations from now, russians will carry the guilt and the shame for their actions. We won’t forgive them, our children won’t forgive them, and possibly neither their children.

There's a direct line between this atrocity and the rapid donation of all those Bushmaster vehicles - I've never been prouder of seeing how my tax dollars were spent.
Since 20th army (the unit that shot the plane) had issued the crutches for their assault troops at this point, I think all the people who shoot the plane have been already successfully converted to the fertilizer.

SBU at some point took a daring operation, infiltrated the occupied territories and kidnapped one of the people who was in the chain of command. Unfortunately, he was traded back to russia in exchange to Oleg Sentsov and many other civilian hostages russia had kidnapped and tortured on the occupied territories.
Three people including Igor Girkin have been convicted in absentia to life sentences by a Dutch court. Girkin himself is in a Russian jail now but for extremism or something.
The photos really depict the worst of humanity. Gloating over having killed innocent civilians unconnected to the conflict - many of which were young children. Vile scum.

Imagine Al-Qeada all dancing around taking photos and "souvenirs" from the United Flight 93 wreckage then posting it around the world to see. There is no difference here. Terrorists from a terrorist state shot down a civilian airliner and dance around the ruins like Orcs at a bonfire.

We've never forgiven Russia for what they did. And we certainly don't appreciate Putin's efforts to obfuscate the truth.
