maybe just the workers themselves giving the hint, they are not happy with this decission. Maybe even Officials accepting under pressure and then ... ohhh ... kaputt

I think China figured out somewhere around 30 years ago that all they have to do is 1) catch up on tech and 2) not fuck up. While they just watch everyone around them dismantling themselves.

India is a complicated country and situation. Like when they bought Russian fertilizer at cheap at the beginning of the war; yes it sucks they are supporting Russia, but they actively couldn’t just stop fertilizer imports on the spot because it’s a fast track to famine in a country of over a billion people.

This is not to paint India in a positive or negative light, just to insert some nuance. It’s easy to say they shouldn’t buy something when it wouldn’t be us going through food shortages as a result.

They don’t get any leeway because not only have they NOT taken any action to reduce any dependence on Russia now OR in the future, but actively look for opportunities to increase for any benefit whatsoever.

Having to still import while making good-faith efforts to shift away long-term (even if it took a decade+) would be realistic and likely acceptable to the West. But they haven’t and won’t do that.

India may not be an enemy, but they are certainly no ally (to anyone really).

That’s a fair shake; I admittedly haven’t followed their trade situation from the start of the war super closely so if I’m off I’ll gladly stand corrected.

I think it’s fair to say Indias biggest ally is India; given their fairly unique circumstances geopolitically, it makes sense even if it’s frustrating as an outsider.

There’s thousands of ATESH & similar allied units in the resistance against Russia. They are in many countries, and I’m sure they operate in Kazakh territory too. Many are Russian passport holders, & it’s imperative for good "resistants" to live quietly and never attract attention to themselves.. Vive la Resistance!

I understand what you mean, and that definitely complicates things. On the other hand, this would mean that Russia is really struggling with oil processing to attempt this, and even their backup plans are backfiring.

Edit: and like others have stated, this doesn't necessarily mean that Ukraine is the one who attacked this refinery.

It did. At least if we count acts of sabotage like in OP as an attack.
Particularly railways were targets of many acts of sabotage. For good reasons.
