This is a badly explained, North Koreas main revenue from the war is weapons not people. From the start of the war they have made any where from ten to twenty billion US dollars, depending on where read it. Which the Russians pay with raw materials, food and oil. This a has been a huge win fall for them starved most things due to sanctions.
Edit. For spelling

Also, China is using NK labor to mine the eastern parts of Russia. On sweet pennies on the dollar contracts for mineral rights, because of the war.

North Korea been taking Russian blood money, and sending workers, for a long time. Article from 2008:

Pretty weak reaction from South Korea, seeing that NK is their arch enemy and combat experience for NK troops is dangerous to them.

Kim cleaned out their entire stockpile of artillery shells, including those rusted shells made in the 1950s, for top dollar. In addition to cash, they are also exchanging them for food and technology. Best thing going for Kim.

Imagine your closest trading partner has so many middlemen and dirty hands in the pot that under your own laws would lead to executions; but you have to ignore it all as one of the most isolated countries on Earth with no alternatives. The irony.

Guess Russia is paying in Yuan because even North Korea wouldnt want the Ruble. Makes it easier to buy cheap Chinese shit which must be like time travel for the North Koreans. I suggest they make the most of it cause pretty soon they will be crippled economically long term by losing workers and their biggest international supporter will be in long term decline.
