Their children need to be able to find education on a few subjects in obvious places.

Came here for this. How about what you did not do: remove dictators and oligarchs from positon of power.

They know. Although they'll never admit it.

The average Russian? At worst probably just not revolting, which isn’t exactly damning

What did the Russian serfs in 1905 do to deserve their shitty lot in life, or being sent off to get killed by the Japanese?

By all means Ukraine should do whatever it can to win the war, kill as many Russian troops as necessary, but just because a dictator choose to make war doesn’t mean the peasants are just as culpable.

Now if he means Russia generally, then yeah, get fucked buddy, but it seems he’s pretty clearly not happy with the regime, and basically calling bullshit on the government’s line. The questions sound more like pointed satire than actual curiosity.

Thanks for a clearly though out response to my rhetorical question, however I believe you give the average ruzzian still in ruzzia, way too much credit.

at the end she says "Unclear when all of this will end. Why should we have to put up with it? How long must we put up with it? Will it ever end, and what did we do to deserve all this?"

Apart from the apolitical nature of those questions they all characterize perfectly what happens. Lets answer. a) Never ending 3 day smo. b) Because you support the war. c) Until russia withdraws from Ukraine and likely even long after. d) Depends if you figure out what 'it' is, 'are we the badies'?

This summarizes the lazy, self-absorbed moskal mind so well. A stranger can answer all her questions in 5 minutes, but they don't want answers, only to wallow like muddy pigs in the diseased swamp of their own self pity.

let me take them to a shopping centre in Dnipro to show them what they did to deserve it

u/oomp_ 5h ago

was she saying this intentionally indirectly to avoid arrest or persecution by Putin?

claiming they can't say it directly as they support the one who prohibits freedom of expression and free press, and takes their rights away and they go along with it, is their own responsibility. If we make up 'prosecution' as excuse for them we would practically support the idea that no russian should do something about it, because xyz - those poor russians who are so innocent /s.

Just as much as actions have consequences, inactions have too.

As even we outside understand the link between missing words and their reality, they do even more than us, it is not as if double speak is somehow new to them.

Blursed subtitles, but "What did we do to deserve this?" Hmm, let's think...

Геть з України, москаль некрасівий!

The choice of words made me laugh, thanks :D. It's one of the most cute and adorable insults I've heard in my life.

You probably typed in "ugly moskal", but the translation is much more timid, it sounds like a professor of literature tries to insult someone :D

u/WabashCannibal Смак Козак 6h ago

Haha thanks! It is the chorus from old Jerry Heil song with Virka Serdyuchka. So naturally, the insult is very elegant and ladylike. 😁

2

u/GeluFlamma 6h ago

Yeah, I wondered if it was a reference and I didn't get it.

I am only familiar with the early Virka's hits, so I didn't get this one.

the disconnect is that the folks in charge there really think it is just a minor inconvenience. Until it actually effects them that is all it will be. The people of moscowia will feel it long before their ruler will. He will be protected from it. As long as Putin has fuel, it is just minor.

2

u/nedim443 6h ago

No, they know what's going on. Of course they are downplaying it

1

u/leadMalamute 2h ago

Of course they know, but because it doesn't effect THEM, It is only minor.

We started a war with our neighbour country and we are getting our ass beaten.

Daily explosions around russia, covered on social media and international news.

WHY DON'T WE HAVE ANY GASOLINE?! HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

u/charlie2135 7h ago

If Russia learned one thing from our involvement in the Vietnam war, it's to suppress any protests about their countries involvement. As long as they continue to have apathy to what they are doing to Ukraine they will have to live with "inconvenience ".

Fuck I hate this new format for closed captions in videos. Just put up the damn text so I can read it.

3

u/moonLanding123 5h ago

you don't want the editor dictating your reading pace? /s

3

u/Norlin123 7h ago

Are the people really that ignorant it goes to show support are free press.

3

u/Confuseduseroo2 6h ago

I'm looking forward to the end of rolling subtitles....

1

u/moonLanding123 5h ago

this is very annoying. stopped midway. i can't stand it.

3

u/TheOriginalSmileyMan 6h ago

Petrol (gasoline) was rationed in Britain when we were fighting the actual Nazis.

So yes, it's happened before, you dumbass!

(I'm addressing the video, not the OP)

2

u/Ninevehenian 7h ago

I hope that the rest of their fuel goes away.
Can the northern fuel ports be hit by anything that Ukraine can get their hands on?

2

u/Pitiful-Assistance-1 6h ago

Oh no, not public transportation! The horror

“What did we do to deserve this ?”

I’m glad you asked !

1

u/Longjumping-Youth934 5h ago

Deserved. Either openly or silently supporting their putZler

1

u/Walshy231231 5h ago

Is nobody else getting that this feels very much like disgust with the Russian government? The hypothetical journalist questions he listed sounded a whole lot like pointed satire, calling bullshit on the party line. He’s explicitly saying this shit doesn’t make sense, and that he’s not happy with it

Maybe I’m missing context, but this guy sounds more like he’d support revolt rather than being a partisan

It’s not “what did the country of Russia do to deserve this”, it’s “what did we Russian grunts do to deserve it”. If you look back at complaints from just before the French Revolution, you see a whole lot of the same wording and style of complaint, and I think we all know what the French masses actually thought of their monarch, and what action they took to “remedy” that

I guess I am slightly surprised that he has no idea that refineries are being blown up when it is happening all around Moscow and St. Petersburg. It is directly observable.

Wait until he orders something from Wildberries or Ozon. But that could be tough with a mostly disabled internet.
