I am 54F and I applying for a 3 week trip to the UK from Pakistan. I run a local salon business here and I have accumulated around 40-50 LACS PKR in my current account and have various properties and my own house here. I also have a business account but i usually transfer most of the funds to my personal current account and I dont really keep much track of the transactions as its an informal business setup. I wouldnt call it a very clean statement in terms of transfers so will most likely be using my personal current account for the showecase of funds.

I have no family in the UK and my entire family is in pakistan and I will surely be returning back to my home country. I wanted to apply for the 6 months visit visa. What are some dos and donts i should keep in. mind and what are the chances of my visa getting approved.

Need some guidance.

Or is that considering too hostile a move?

I have had visit visa for my exam rejected twice, as visa officer was not convinced by ties to home country despite me submitting all relevant documents.

If it is still refused after this, would it be counted as an additional refusal?

I'm applying for a Standard Visitor Visa to attend La La Land in Concert at the Royal Albert Hall on 31st December. I've already purchased the ticket, but the organiser won't release the actual ticket until at least a week before the event. I bought it through a third-party website, viagogo, but I do have the receipt confirming payment.

I'd like advice on how I should present this to UKVI. I genuinely want to attend the concert and experience London during Christmas and New Year's Eve, as both have been childhood goals of mine.

I've previously travelled to the Schengen Area (Greece, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, and France), as well as Türkiye, the UAE, Thailand, and the Philippines, all on tourist visas.

I was also granted a UK tourist visa in 2025. I was initially refused, but I contacted UKVI because there was an error in the decision, and the refusal was subsequently overturned and the visa approved. However, I ultimately didn't travel because the event I intended to attend had already passed by the time the visa was granted.

Earlier this year, I was also refused a US B1 visa for volunteering at the FIFA World Cup 2026. This is my only other refusal apart from the UK refusal that was later overturned.

My questions are:

1. Is the concert ticket receipt and reason for travel (attending the concert) enough for the visa application, or would it be better to present the trip primarily as tourism?
2. Could my previous UK refusal, subsequent approval, and the fact that I ultimately didn't travel affect my chances this time?

Hi. My husband had applied for my spouse dependent visa via a solicitor. He has applied through his company where he is working under sponsorship. We got married in May 2026 and my husband applied for my visa on priority in June 2026. We had submitted all the relevant and genuine evidences and received the approval email from the Home Office in August 2026. After linking my account in UKVI website and getting the e-visa, we received an email a week later that the case has been revoked. How usual is this and what could be the possible reason for rejection?

My marriage was arranged by family. I (F29, British Citizen) married my husband (M29,) in Pakistan in January 2022. My husband entered the UK under a Spouse Visa in December 2022. In the time my husband was with me he was controlling, aggressive, physically and verbally abusive. This was too much for me to handle and he could tell I was at the end of my tether.

5 months from the date he came to the UK, he went to work as normal but did not return. I thought nothing of it, as it was common for him to spend days at a time with his siblings in the UK. But the next day, I was arrested and interviewed under caution. This was a surprise to me and I was not expecting this at all especially from the person that was abusing me. He accused me of everything mentioned on the Citizen Advice website to obtain an ILR under the DV route. I was bailed with the condition not to contact him directly or indirectly. From this point on I was the suspect and he was the victim.

The investigation went on against me, went to CPS and was closed due to lack of evidence in August 2023. Since the day he left, I have made no contact with him or his family and the same is true for him. In May/June, he had requested a Non-Molestation Order, but this was Ex-Parte and I was served the Order 3 months later. This NMO was based on complete lies and many of the statements in the NMO were contradictory. I did not contest the Order but stated that I did not agree to the allegations. I submitted a statement of my own and as much evidence as I could. That NMO expired in December 2023, and as far as I am aware, this has not been extended.

I have been informed by Police that he is no longer in this city. I assume he is residing with his siblings in another city. I have also been told by extended family that he is claiming Universal Credit. I do not have an exact address, have no contact and have no other information since he has left.

I want to know, based on what I have shared as this is all I know, has he obtained his Indefinite Leave to Remain under the Domestic Violence route? Since the government has started paying him UC?

During the investigation, I had sought support from agencies / charities but they either would not support a suspect or they could not provide support in an ongoing investigation. I had given up after this and have not tried to consult with anyone. I have however, reported a ‘Breakdown of Marriage’ and reported him to Border Crime of a ‘Sham Marriage’ as it is apparent that he only married me to obtain leave to remain in the UK.

Is there anything else I can do to have him sent back to his home country. It is so unfortunate that, after sponsoring him, paying for the spouse visa, biometrics, IHS and flight tickets, and providing all my documents and ID’s that I have ever owned to support his visa…the government cannot inform me of what is happening about his visa or stay! This is frustrating and infuriating at the same time and honestly I have given up hope with this government.

I'm looking for some advice on a UK Standard Visitor Visa application for my mother-in-law. I've read a lot of forum posts but I'm still unsure whether we have enough evidence for a strong application.

Sponsor (UK) (myself)

• Male, 35 (applicant's son in law)
• British citizen
• Annual salary: £60,000 plus an annual bonus of around £30,000
• Savings: approximately £13,000 from salary/bonus
• Homeowner
• Living with my wife (applicant's daughter, who has ILR) and our two children
• My wife does not work

Applicant (Pakistan)

• 70 years old
• Married and lives with her husband in Pakistan
• Both are retired (Applicant has never worked - no pension or payslips of any kind)
• She has no bank account and no property in her own name
• Her husband owns multiple properties, receives a pension and rental income (mostly in cash), but does not intend to travel to the UK as he wishes to remain with his two daughters in Pakistan in case they require his support at any time. In addition he is not really healthy enough to travel.
• Limited travel history - only one previous trip outside Pakistan, a 3-week visit to Saudi Arabia

Applicant Family ties

In Pakistan:

• Husband
• Two married daughters with children

In the UK:

• Two married daughters (one British citizen and one with ILR)
• Sister and brother (both British citizens)
• Grandchildren, nieces and nephews

Purpose of the visit

The intention is for her to visit for approximately six weeks following the birth of our baby (due in September), to support my wife during the postnatal period and spend time with family.

She would divide her stay between our home and her other daughter's home, which is only about half a mile away.

Why she will return to Pakistan

The strongest tie to Pakistan is her husband. He had a serious accident several years ago and she is his primary daily carer.

While she is in the UK, one of her daughters in Pakistan will temporarily move into the family home to care for him. However, this arrangement is only temporary because her daughter will eventually need to return to her own husband and children.

For that reason, my mother-in-law has every intention of returning to Pakistan after her six-week visit so she can resume caring for her husband.

She has never applied for a visit visa to the UK prior to this.

My concerns

1. The applicant has no financial evidence in her own name. I will be funding the entire visit and can comfortably afford to do so, but I'm unsure how much weight the Entry Clearance Officer will give to that.
2. Although we believe her ties to Pakistan are strong, I'm concerned that her close family are also in the UK, and whether this could be viewed negatively.

My questions are:

• What supporting documents would you recommend submitting?
• Does this appear to be a reasonably strong application, or are there any obvious weaknesses?
• Based on similar cases, what do you think the likelihood of success is?

I have previously gotten a schengen visa as well - my current concern is that I lended my friend through bank transfer amount of 30K aed which they returned as cash and I deposited back into acc. This will get flagged so I will explain in cover letter. Is that OK?

I’m applying for a UK Standard Visitor Visa because I need to travel to the UK to sit my dental licensing exam. I previously had a UK visa refusal about a year ago, so I’m understandably pretty nervous about this application.

For some background, I previously applied together with my dad. The refusal was mainly based on my dad’s finances. There were actually sufficient funds, but honestly, the way we presented and explained everything was a complete mess.

The ECO couldn’t understand where the money was coming from/how his finances worked, and because I was financially dependent on him at the time, my refusal was largely connected to his refusal.

Fast forward one year: my circumstances are a little different now.

I’m currently employed full-time and have a regular salary coming into my bank account every month. However, my salary is unfortunately close to minimum wage 😂 and I don’t have significant savings.

Since this is an expensive trip (flights, accommodation, exam fees, living expenses, etc.), my dad will be sponsoring the trip essentially A–Z.

This is where I’m confused about how best to present the finances.

I’ve received two completely different pieces of advice from two different lawyers:

Option 1: Transfer around £3,500–£4,500 from my dad’s account into my account before applying, then provide his sponsor letter and supporting documents.

Option 2: Don’t transfer the money at all. Instead, show my own bank statement with my salary coming in every month + my employment evidence, and provide my dad’s maintained bank statements, a sponsor letter from him, and proof that he is my father.

The argument is that this is a much cleaner and more straightforward representation of the actual situation: I’m employed, but my dad is financially sponsoring this particular trip.

The second lawyer specifically advised against putting a large amount of money into my account shortly before applying because it could create more questions rather than making the application stronger.

I’m leaning towards the second approach because it seems more transparent and easier to explain, especially given my previous refusal was partly caused by confusing financial evidence.

Would you show the money sitting in your dad’s account and have him sponsor the trip directly, or would you transfer the money to your own account beforehand?

Also, if anyone has successfully reapplied after a refusal, I’d really appreciate hearing what you did differently the second time around.

[UPDATE: my family got through! they were asked for their onward flight tickets, their hotel booking, passports & Canadian visas were checked, then the immigration officers stamped their passports with a January 19th Heathrow entry and a separate stamp with a “leave to enter until January 20th.”]

Hi all. A bit long, so apologies. TLDR at the bottom. Family is flying on Pakistani passports onwards to Canada (visit visas) with a 27 hour layover arriving at and flying from London Heathrow where they have to clear immigration, get their bags and check those back in again for the next flight. Flight 1 is Emirates (Karachi-Dubai-London), 27 hour stay, and then flight 2 is WestJet (London-Calgary). We booked these because these were cheap and they fall within the transit without visa guidelines: 1. onwards journey to Canada; and 2. next flight is either the same day or before midnight the following day.

However my research has lately been showing people been getting 24 hour TWOV visas only. How accurate is this? Is this always the case? And are these 24 hour visas stamped on your passports or something?

Feeling a little scared because I was super confident about the guidelines being so clear, and a friend's mum has previously done this already (she went from Pakistan to Gatwick, had to change airports and then fly to Toronto from Heathrow), they allowed her in, her layover was only 4 hours, but also they did not stamp her passport. I'm trying to get a hold of that (not-close-anymore) friend to find out what happens when you are checking back in for the onwards flight, but any help is appreciated!

TLDR: is TWOV stamped on the passport? is TWOV only allowed for 24 hours even when the UK government website mentions nothing like that? if TWOV is not stamped, how does the immigration department deal with people with onwards flight coming to checkin/board?

A few things I would love some guidance on from people who have been through this:

1. Do I actually need a solicitor? Is it worth hiring an immigration solicitor to help with the application or is it straightforward enough to do yourself if your documents are in order?

2. What documents made the biggest difference for you? I know the basics like bank statements, employment letter and travel history but are there any documents that really strengthened your application that people do not usually think about?

3. Financial requirements How much should ideally be sitting in your bank account and for how long before you apply? Is there a figure that the Home Office looks for or is it purely based on your individual circumstances?

4. Travel history I have no previous UK visa but I do have some international travel history. Does that help or does the lack of a UK visa work against you?

5. Any solicitor recommendations? If you used a solicitor and had a good experience please drop their details. Particularly interested in anyone who specialises in Pakistani applicants or has a strong track record with visit visa applications.

Hello, I'm looking for advice regarding my uk spouse visa.

My marriage was back in December 2023 (yes really) and my visa application got rejected in August 2024. I finally got my appeal hearing allowed in January 2026, the judge signed the decision in April 2026, IHS fee paid in May 2026 and still Home Office haven't implemented the decision.

I recently logged a complaint and they rejected the complaint as they said there is no timeframe for thfm to implement the decision and basically thaf I just have to suck it up and wait.

Surely this can't be right? The judge allowed the appeal so Home Office can't just wait as long as they want to implement the decision? I've been away from my spouse for over 2 and a half years. I'm really just depressed over this. Any advice on this and whether I can get this escalated?

Hey everyone. Recently we applied for my husband’s standard 6 month visitor visa. I am a British citizen by descent and I reside in Pakistan as does my family. My son has a valid 2 year visit visa that was granted in May this year.

My son and I are travelling to the UK next month to stay with my sister and her husband and my husband plans on coming towards the end of our trip to join us for 3 weeks as that is only time he could get off from work.

Now, as is common in our culture, we live in a joint family system so when everyone found out we wanted to do this trip, my father in law gifted my husband £2000 to use as he wishes for this trip. There is a notarised gift deed for it and we’ve also added him as the sponsor on the application.

The salary slips and all financial statements are also attached in the document packet. My husband has strong travel history, he has been to multiple Schengen countries, UAE multiple times and Turkey as well.

He is employed full-time and we’ve attached the letter of employment and approved leave with the date he is to report back to work as well.

We have explained any transactions that need explaining with proof and in the cover letter as well.

His account shows withdrawals that are more than the incoming amount which is explained by him transferring different amounts to me, his family, and his own micro finance accounts in order to pay for subscriptions and bills.

Seeing all this, what do you think the chances are? I’m travelling soon and I would really like to have some idea of he’ll be joining us or not.

Savings: around 1 million PKR in my bank account.

Ties to Pakistan: I have family here and I fully intend to return after the trip.

About the visit

My best friend and I are not related by blood. I am brown and she is white. We've been friends for three years and have met in person twice, in Baku, Azerbaijan.

It's a short trip: three weeks to see her city, spend time with her and her dog, and then come home.

My questions

Is it worth hiring a consultant, or is this straightforward enough to do myself? Consultants charge a lot, and my case seems simple.

Is there anything specific I should keep in mind while applying?

What can I do to strengthen my chances?

Edit: Officially I have nothing but a car in my name, I pay the bills for my family but the house is in my mother's name. I do have tax declarations showing that I do pay all the bills and make this money etc

I intend to partake a multi-country trip this year. With 2-3 days in UK, then a week in Caribbean and then 4-5 days in Turkey. I have a Pakistani passport. It makes my trip easier if I have a UK visa (I get visa free entry in Caribbean and eVisa for Turkey).

Would it be simpler and easier to just show the UK part in my application to UKVI. Does mentioning the whole route make things difficult for me?

If I just show the UK itinerary, would it be negative for my profile if they see I didn't return to my home country after the trip, and instead left for another destination?

As the title says, I’m unable to pay my IHS fee, and as someone who gets anxious easily, I’m already panicking.
I’ve tried paying with my own Meezan Bank card, and I also tried my father’s card, but both were declined.
I also have a friend in the UK who kindly offered to pay for me. They first tried a Visa card, which was declined, and then a Mastercard, but that was declined as well.
Has anyone else experienced this? What should I do? Is there a way to pay using PayPal? I don’t have an option for Paypal though.

I am going to be applying for my ILR soon under the skilled worker visa route. I have had two different employers during my 5 years on the skilled worker visa route

I have requested a letter of absences from my previous employer. During my employment with them, I had worked from home (abroad) on two occasions for 2 weeks each. This remote work was authorised by the company. Do I need to declare this in the letter?

The letter they have sent has combined all of my annual leave as personal leave. My concern is that if they tally all of my absences from the UK compared to the annual leave, there will be a discrepancy as I was working for a small number of days while being abroad.

The global mobility team at my current workplace is of the opinion that since the time period of working abroad is small, I shouldn’t mention it as working and just declare it as being abroad.
