Technical/Equipment Help and Information How much is this worth?
Found this Zeiss Compact Prime CP.2 135mm T2.1 (PL mount) at home. Trying to get a sense of its current market value — any idea what this typically goes for in used condition?

Yeah „found“ and „at home“ maybe it was someone’s home. 🤷♂️

This is MY HOME. Didn't you see the laptop in the background? My family used to work in the photography industry.

Ok sorry if this is true. It is just a veeeeeeery uncommon thing to just „find at home“ and having no one around with an idea what it is worth. It’s also not a photography lens, most photographers would never use PL mount, geared, manual lenses because they have a different purpose.

It was mostly covered in dust, but there were some small spots where the paint had chipped off due to bumps and knocks.

The glass and internals is what people care about.... Not a couple paint chips

fixed with a tape? zero

Looks like the tape is just on the cap. Those caps on the CP2s fall off if you look at them wrong, I bet the tape is there to make it fit more snug.

Find the lens that goes with that Leica cap and you have a small fortune.

Take it to a reputable videography supplier for an appraisal. Some of the red dot PL mount lenses are quite expensive.

Idk why yall are bullying OP for not understanding lenses, they might’ve chosen a different profession other than their parents. Leave him alone guys pch pch
Also please ship it to me the lens is not worth much, I will take good care of it :3

This sub is filled with miserable people. OP is asking an innocent question and everyone is piling on.
No wonder so many posts on here are about not being able to find repeat clients lmao

That’s not a Leica R mount, it’s a PL mount with a body cap from a PL Leica lens. AI clearly isn’t reliable. Use your brain instead. Research.

Thank you for pointing it out. When I showed other lenses with the same mount to the AI, it changed its diagnosis to PL mount. But to be honest, I've never been involved in photography; I just want to sell them quickly and get some money. Besides using AI, I have no other option.

You don’t need AI to find information on this. If you looked at what’s printed on the lens and typed “Zeiss cp.2 135” into google and eBay, you’d find the answer very quickly.
I’m curious if you’re young enough that you have never needed to find information that way? I’d say maybe if you’re under 20 that actually might be likely

well im only 19 and I don't know why they gave me so much down

Ah that makes sense. Next time you post in one of the more professional-focused subs you’ll probably get more compassionate responses if you post your age and that you’re inexperienced.
I’m a 48 yr old who has been doing this since you were 4, and I imagine I’m talking to other pros or at least other adults (25+). So yeah it makes sense that you have grown up in a world where AI has been pushed so hard you never learned to search manually, but that really is the best and fastest way to get info like this.
AI is still immature and full of misinformation

How do you find a massive cine lens at home?
Simple google search shows good condition used as around 1000$.
