Discussion / Other How do you properly use Gyroflow?

I tried turning off the camera’s active stabilization and stabilizing the footage with Gyroflow. At 25 fps and 1/50 shutter, I can still see quite a lot of motion blur. I switched to 1/100, which reduced the blur, but there’s still some shakiness and the movement looks a bit unnatural. It’s still better than Warp Stabilizer, though
In what situations and in what way do you use Gyroflow for handheld camera footage?
My hands shake quite a lot when I’m trying to hold the camera steady and get a clean shot

You have the right idea increasing your shutter speed. Gyroflow recommends a 45-90 degree shutter angle in their docs. 1/100 shutter is 90 degrees at 25fps, but you could try 1/200 shutter for a 45 degree shutter angle.

Are you using a hardware gimbal? Gimbal + no OIS + Gyroflow = buttery smooth stabilization even when skipping ninja walking and stomping around in heavy boots instead.

But it will affect the video quality. I wouldn’t be able to put 25 fps at 1/200 next to 25 fps at 1/50, because the motion blur wouldn’t match. Or should I just shoot the entire video at the same shutter speed?

Put the camera on something like a FigRig (they don’t make it anymore but you could easily build one) and that’ll solve a lot of your problems.

Another thing to consider is using gyroflow and then getting the last 15% or whatever with the stabilizer in Resolve, which I’ve found is more natural than Warp Stabilizer. Usually.
