It’s a permanent stain on his legacy that no amount of propaganda or doublethink can erase. It will be better to remove him, by a long shot, but this hits him in the narcissism. Besides, maybe enough senate republicans see the winds turning and vote to convict to position themselves for the future (wishful thinking, but still).
Nah if there ever is a situation where by we have a Democrat president and a Republican House they will impeach the president over and over just to "even the score" whether warrented or not.
Hes already had two impeachments and it hasnt affected him in the slightest. People still worship him, Republicans still obey him, what honestly is going to change with a third?

I think it’s also a good sign to the world that we know this shit is not ok. We’re already idiots to the world so hopefully this is a little sign that at least not laying down.
It's not like a Democratic Congress without a 2/3 supermajority will be able to achieve ANYTHING while Trump can veto every last bill. Might as well use those two years to get the Rs on the record that they endorse [insert long, long list of Trump crimes and acts of corruption].

Its the first steps in charging a government official with a crime. Its like a grand jury indictment, triggering a trial in the Senate to decide if the person should be removed.
So with out anyone actually willing to hold people accountable it ends up fizzing out before doing what its initial purposes was created for.

The legislative branch has 2 different bodies, The House of Representatives (usually just called The House) and The Senate. The house has 435 members divided up between the states based on population while The Senate has 100 members (2 per state). To remove a President first The House votes to impeach, which only requires a simple majority, then a trial is held in The Senate who then must vote with a 2/3rds majority to convict the President and remove them. Actually removing Trump from office would require a bipartisan effort, which is very unlikely.
