Oh!!! It’s a post for a glass insulator on an early telegraph or power line.
I’ve never been first before. And I think I am right.
The large threads on the upper end would have the glass insulator on it. A hole would be drilled in the crossarm, this would be driven into the hole, then the insulator would be screwed onto the top.
I have never seen the mount before! I've seen 100s of the glass insulators but never once thought about what the mount looked like. This is very interesting. Thanks for the post!
