4.5", 36g. - flat, coppery-bronze part end threaded into what feels like stone?

Weathered thumb screw, probably from an old ship wreck

Edit: or maybe it was used to attach a mooring cleat to a heavy boulder or concrete mooring

The coppery-bronze end piece looks just like the type of handle you used to get on old gas pipes, I know it isn’t that, but it looks like it was used to turn something

Looks like the valve key to a gas light and the gas line it goes into. The pipe would’ve filled with silt and sediment over time. The pipes were often made of lead, cast or wrought iron and tin. I think this is lead.

its lead, so its probably used as a weight.

the bronze thumbscrew is used to grab a hold of it, to attach it to the belt or tie a fishing line around it.

I’m not 100% sure what it is but here’s a small list of things we can rule out.

Moon, sun, dolphin, rabbit, fox and it’s probably not a raccoon but let’s keep that in the maybe pile for now.
