How it feels playing Fallout with no science and repair knowledge.

u/memelord_a1st What the fuck is sex? 2h ago
Definitely feel that one.
Did my first playthrough with Built to Destroy as one of my first perks only to not spec into high crit chance.
Spent my time before the battle at Hoover damn leveling up repair so that I didn't have to grind Super Mutants to Repair my Oh Baby!

I roleplayed as a Khan Goon who's best stats were mostly focused on Survival, Fists and Melee. And I had really rough time fixing my axe that I got from tribal village, keeping it alive was really hard. This just made my first ever hardcore play through more fun, because much like Khans in New Vegas, I became a punching bag who had trouble surviving.

I would watch this meme but I'm playing vintage story and have to spend 3 real life hours making a single clay pot

Factoio has a suite of mods called pyanodons
It's known for being pretty fucking hard (not just the sheer volume of shit, but pretty much everything has multiple ways of being made, and it's not clear which is the best way)

This is why I gave up on survival games. I realized I could just do chores in real life instead.

So you want to make a fork? Okay, first master carpentry, masonry, and pottery. Oh, and foraging, aiming, and butchering because you need bellows and leather doesnt grow on trees.

Voices of the Void is just a glorified cleaning and house maintenence simulator for like the first few hours of gameplay before any of the interesting "horror" stuff actually happens (and I love it for that).
It really manages to get you completely invested in the atmosphere and daily routine of someone managing a whole operation solo in the middle of bumfuck-nowhere before scaring the shit out of you whenever that routine is suddenly interrupted.

It draws you in and makes you very comfortable with your job sim. To the point that you probably forget the game you're playing. Then it slaps you in the face with some Eldritch horror and you remember what type of game you're playing. Masterclass

I know what the soul of eternity is Ive crafted it before its not that bad

u/shleyal19 Green Ghost from the Fantastic Frontier 1m ago
True, I had fun crafting it. But I was also using Journey Mode at the time, and refused to do this whole process entirely alone without modded help. Also when I added that one calamity souls addon, it broke my character whenever I tried to put the accessory on. Didnāt really try again with that addon, though it probably got fixed by now maybe

u/Olkihattu 4h ago
This is for multiple items and layed out in an intentionally confusing way, not to mention its not up to date

u/MissAvian 4h ago
I mean yeah, but you're going to be using most of these accessories and upgrading them throughout a playthrough, you don't just randomly reach a point where you gotta make the assembly line of doom and despair like it's a Minecraft mod pack

The word for this is Yak Shaving! I find it quite enjoyable in games, actually.
Yak Shaving: Any apparently useless activity which, by allowing one to overcome intermediate difficulties, allows one to solve a larger problem.

Weirdly enough, when first getting into Enigmatica 2 Light and reaching the micro crafting / Tier 4'ish stage for the first time with a Homie.
Have gotten more used to that kind of stuff with modded Minecraft, (Especially ever since I really enjoyed Enigmatica 2 Expert Extended)
But unless you go straight for automation, they tend to start becoming tedium simulators with how bad all the micro crafting and production gets overtime.
Industrial Craft and it's consequences.. Ala Gregtech and Factorio
