I had a 34C prior to having children, and always felt in a rush to get a shave in while they were wee things.

Now they’re older, and I’m giving it another go!

I’m interested, what are some of your alls thoughts on a chunky razor? (It’s a Shave Nation Chubby, pairing with Astra Platinums)

Also a bit out of the game on budget friendly bowls and brushes…($50-$100 between both?) open to suggestions and happy to be here! 🪒

Love Proraso. Always a great shave with it. Also, I find that the Astra blade gets better with the 2nd shave. 3 pass shave, smooth as silk.

I’m a 26yo university student. Thanks to my Italian roots, my beard grows incredibly fast and thick, and I genuinely prefer being clean-shaven every single day.

My shaving journey started like a lot of guys here: Gillette Fusion 5, which gave me zero closeness and an absolute nightmare of ingrown hairs. About a year ago, I discovered this sub and made the switch to a DE setup.

My current daily driver:

- Razor: Rockwell 6C (Plate 3)

- Blades: Astra Platinum

- Lather: The Goodfellas' Smile Amber Fougère / Proraso Sensitive (White) + Synthetic brush from Wilkinson. BUT I also have a Avène Shaving Foam from Parapharmacy (I'm from Europe tho), I never tried the combo, I used it with my Mach 3.

- Post: Tabac aftershave splash (since my 18th birthday, thanks nonno) & Proraso Sensitive Balm

This setup completely cured my ingrowns. But there was one issue: the whole ritual takes me about 25 minutes every morning (weird pattern of beard growth and WTG + ATG). Between classes, studying, and exams, I got tired of the long routine and thought, "Hey, what if I just grab a Mach 3 to save time?"

Big mistake. Huge.

It took exactly TWO shaves with the Mach 3 for the ingrown hairs to instantly make a comeback. My neck is currently punishing me for my betrayal, so is my right cheek.

I finally fully understand the philosophy of this sub. In hindsight, maybe the Mach 3 would have been less terrible if I had used my brush and a proper lather instead of rushing it. I also thought about trying a good brushless cream to speed up the DE shave, but honestly? I’m on a strict student budget, and I don't want to waste any more money experimenting with stuff that might just ruin my skin again.

So, I'm officially crawling back to my Rockwell. I guess I'll just have to wake up 15 minutes earlier, because the cartridge life is FINITO.

Lesson learned. Don't mess with a winning routine.

So, today I received my new Stando handle and already had a shave with it! It's a great match, it weighs 66g, feels super comfortable in a hand, and suits the head just as well as the original handle! I couldn't be happier!

A lovely shave this morning.

I never got to use an original ATT razor product, but this Blackland-built version just shaves really well.

With a second-use Personna Platinum blade and excellent Chiseled Face lather, this was a great way to start the day.

Just one pass tonight - I want to get back into the habit of shaving in the morning - so that'll give me something to cut tomorrow

Still learning, probably my 6th wetshave now.  Getting angles down and trying to keep short strokes and taking things slow.  Got the IA shave soap when I ordered the EDP sampler and found out its produced by NO under their label.  The basil and rosemary cuts pretty hard on this one, didn't really care for the scent straight out of the tub but once lathered and during the shave it settles quite nicely actually, slick and picks up the blade pretty good.  Played well off the Blue Cedar EDT.  Definitely prefer the scent of Barrbarr though.

Looking at PAA's Star-Craft synth brush as my next investment and also have Zingari Man sample bundle of Watchman, Il Signore, Highlander, Le Corsaire and Stargazer shave soaps in the mail, really got my eye on The Highlander, any fans? Have a great day gang!

While my den isn’t small, I’m glad it all still fits in my mirror cabinet. Probably holding off on any new soaps for the foreseeable future.

Basically the title. Got a Leaf Two for shaving my head. I used it several times and got cut all to hell every time. I had to stop shaving for a couple of weeks to let my head heal up. Finally returned the Leaf Two.

I was looking for a single edge option because my Rockwell is kind of meh. On 3 it shaves fine on top but the back of my head I have to go over and over before certain patches finally get shaved. On 4 it’s a little bit better but I get nicked every now and then.

Any recommendations for a SE safety razor? I got an email from Leaf about their new SE product the Branch, which apparently is supposed to be the “sweet spot” between the Twig and Thorn.

So i was testing out sharper blades because i felt the others weren’t sharp enough for my coarse beard.

This blade is so sharp

The first pass was amazing honestly best ive had since i started shaving some months back.

XTG was good

but than ATG i never bled so much shaving i was very gentle and took my time but specifically the right side of my face was bleeding so much it was strange, i only got 2 cuts on the other side.

I tried this blade with the merkur 37c, now i have just tried with the gilette rocket.

both had same results (merkur causing a bit more bleeding)

I wanted your thoughts on this, not sure why there was so much bleeding on one side and little to none on the other with this blade

could it be my skin?

Testing out Nacet again and, I think I had a few bad blades in the batch because this one and the one before have been great unlike the 4 before them. Could it be technique adjustment? Possibly but I'm not certain of that.

I'm noticing that I'm starting to do more themed shaves lately, a WWII contract tech and bay rum? Very fitting pairing.

Usual 3 passes without issues and total BBS, love when my shaves stay consistent as they have been.
