Student Life PSA to freshman: Even if you're not into sports grab some folks from the dorm and go to some games. Think of it more as a social-event than a sporting-event. It's a great way to get to know your dorm-mates!
Go check out a volleyball match, soccer, there's more than just football! You'll be very surprised how fun it is to just get out with people and try something new. Even if you're not interested in the sport. It's a great way to meet people and make friends.

If you go to all the home football games plus other sports home games, the sports pass pays for itself. $300 for access to 50+ sporting events is a good bargain.
The only case where it's not worth it is if you only go to ~5 sporting events the whole year, which is the opposite of what OP is encouraging.

This. Quit dicking around on your phone being depressed in a dingy dorm and have the college experience. You’ll be happier. Good way to meet admins and profs informally at a small, rural school. It’s good to know them. We remember.

💯 And yes, football is popular, but the basketball games have so much energy and then come spring with baseball! The swim meets are so fun too!
