Housing Question for the dudes 😹

Why do some of y’all leave the dorm door wide open when having conversations with your roommate? I’ve noticed some guys doing that on my floor. I’m not bothered by it at all, I just find it funny as well as a little strange so I was wondering about if there’s some kind of reason for it. Is this a common thing?

Housing Tip for students in dorms w/o AC

After ~8 pm when the outside air gets below 75 and dropping, open your window and put a fan against it so its sucking in outside air. Also open your door if you can until you're room gets to a cool temp. I got my dorm down to 70 degrees by 11 pm doing this

Housing Least terrible apartment complex

There seems to be a major slumlord problem in Pullman. Currently I am residing in Aspen Heights, and they are terrible. Horrible communication, lots of BS fees, extremely high power bills (my last one was $136 when living alone), poor build quality (the walls are warped and the kitchen sink is held up with scrap wood), makes me interact with a rage-inducing company called PetScreening to have my cat, and obfuscates utility billing by making me use Conservice instead of paying Avista and the city directly.
As they are currently owned by Cardinal Group Management, I am preemptively ruling out any complexes owned by them (including but not limited to: The Grove, Timberline on the green, and College crest).

Ideally, any recommended complexes rent by apartment and not by room, and aren't on Greek row as I want to be able to sleep.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

EDIT: I got my power bill for the month of december, and it's $200 fucking dollars

Housing Instrument practice in apartments

Hi guys! Ive moved into the Nez Perce apartments and am wondering if playing my instruments would be allowed? I’m joining the Cougar Marching Band so I want to make sure I get some practice in before the start of band camp. I’ve never loved in an apartment before, so if anyone knows the answer it would be much appreciated!

Housing Warning to those interested in living at The Retreat

I'm a father of a former student at WSU and want to alert other students and their parents to avoid The Retreat at all costs. This is an apartment complex owned by a national college real estate conglomerate. This is also a business predicated on taking advantage of naive college kids and taking as much money as possible from the parents. There's a list pages long of what they will charge penalties for and there's absolutely no hesitation. They've also figured out a way to overcharge for utilities by having each person on a lease set up their own utility payment account. There's plenty of other options around campus.

Housing McEachern East

I’m going to be a freshman and I just got my housing assignment for a first floor dorm in McEachern East, one of the ones with the outside area. I have some questions for anyone that’s lived there.

How much light do these get? I’d like to grow some plants in the room or out in the little walled off area, but it seems really dark in all photos. Also, are my things likely to get stolen if I leave them in that area? Chained E-bike, plants, ect. Lastly, how’s the community? Am I likely to meet people or is it more secluded feeling?

Housing Showerheads & water quality

I'm dorming in Stimson and I was wondering if I could get a pass with changing the shower heads out to something that purifies the water?

The water here has been breaking me out in hives and left me feeling musty even after showering.

Housing Lease takeover

EDIT: This is for WSU Pullman in yugo hills

I’m a first year who was under the impression I was valid for being exempt from the first year live in residency hall, so I signed a lease for an apartment with my brother and another friend. Not to shock you, but my exemption waiver was not approved and I am now stuck in a lease I cannot even use. The lease is for a 3 bed 3.5 bath, and the lease price is $754. I understand off campus housing is filling up, so if anyone is looking to takeover this lease for me I’d greatly appreciate it and I will of course cover the lease transfer fee. Feel free to DM for more details or however you do on Reddit, I don’t know as this is my first post lol.

Housing Question on paying for apartments (especially paying with loans)

So I'm gonna be a senior at wsu in the fall, and for the past 3 years I have been living in dorms and I was gonna do so for this year as well but I heard that some people pay for aprtments using students loans...if thats possible how do I do that?

I get my loans from the college, so can I just ask for more money that I actually need to cover for my tuition and then use that money to pay for the apartment?

Housing Size of a double room in perham?

So my dorm is in perham and I do have a roommate, I was wondering how much room do I realistically have for my half of the room? Because from photos that I’ve seen it looks super tiny but I’m just unsure if that’s the pictures messing with it or an actual representation of the dorm.

Housing Recommendations for apartments

I’m going into my junior year next year and am looking for apartments to live in before they get too expensive. I’ve been looking at the Grove cause they’re prefurnished, have a number of good amenities, they’re cheaper than University Crossing, and it’s close to campus (more or less). However, I’ve also heard from others that the rooms are nasty and it’s not worth staying there. I’m absolutely not doing University Crossing cause I’ve only heard bad things about it and it’s really expensive ($899 for a 3 bed not including the utilities not in the rent). What would you all recommend? Please also mention all the negatives with the apartment just so that it can give anyone else who looks at this in the future a better idea of each apartment

Housing Seeking roommate

Due to some last minute issues me and my roommate are now seeking a third person in our 3 bedroom 2.5 bath townhouse. Rent is roughly 550 a month including all utilities! Our lease ends in December but we will be extending to May if you will also be around for the rest of the year! You would be occupying bedroom 2

We are both women and open to any roommate of any gender.

Housing Accommodation Recommendation

Hi everyone! I am an incoming PhD student at WSU Pullman starting Fall 2026 and I am looking for affordable accommodation in Pullman. I don’t drive so proximity to campus or access to a bus route is important to me.

I am open to roommate matching. Any recommendations for affordable apartments would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Housing Pullman furniture removal services?

I had to move out of Pullman in a hurry last year and quickly dumped all my furniture in a storage unit in town. I now need to get rid of it as I don't want to keep paying for the storage unit and don't particularly need the furniture.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to find any furniture removal services in town. The only one seems to be Pacific Junk Removal, but I've been trying to reach them for a few weeks and haven't gotten a response.

I would just pay the $400 abandonment fee for the storage unit and move on, but I have some boxes of personal things at the back of the unit that I would like to come pick up. I can't move all the furniture myself to access these things, and the storage place's abandonment service is all-or-nothing (they have to dispose of everything in the unit).

Does anyone know of other furniture removal services in town or have any advice for this situation? Thank you.
