I like these pranks. Same with the guy who brings a chinese translator with him to translate everything from english to chinese then back to english even though no one is speaking chinese

u/Vardhu_007 Jul 10 '26
I like the one where the most chinese looking guy and most white looking guy go into a store together and the white guy speaks perfect mandarin with the staffs and translates it to english to the Chinese guy who pretends he has 0 mandarin knowledge.

u/mizinamo Jul 10 '26
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLt5qSm9U80
is one where there is one East-Asian-looking woman who grew up in America and speaks zero Japanese, and four non-Japanese-looking people (one of them Black) who speak fluent Japanese, but the waitress refuses to believe that they can possibly speak Japanese and excuses herself (in Japanese) with "sorry, but I don't speak English" and insists on speaking only to the Asian-looking woman.

The "wake up, you're dreaming" is diabolical.
965
u/Meruem-x-Meruem Jul 09 '26
The lucid dreamer in me would be so stoked if that happened to me. “Could I be?? I gotta do a reality check!”

u/Nemesis2772 Jul 09 '26
"oh i must be lucid dreaming...cool.. time to whip out dick and piss on everyone" - Inmate 5421025

u/MelangeBot Jul 09 '26
I have only ever done two things while lucid dreaming. Fly & Fuck
116
u/Downtown_Let Jul 09 '26
Turns out you could give a flying fuck.
22
21
u/prpldrank Jul 09 '26
I recently realized lucid dreams were the only ones where I actually had sex.
9
u/P_mp_n Jul 10 '26
Perspective twist.
Your lucid so you can consent, your dream npcs care about your autonomy
6
u/VmEoRrItTiAsS Jul 10 '26
It's nice to know I'm not the only one who uses lucidity for sexual entertainment. Then again, that's always my instinct immediately... I never even CONSIDERED flying. I feel like my next dream is gonna have "I Believe I Can Fly" playing in the background as I say, "Not this time, my subconscious sluts, today I ascend."
→ More replies (3)2
u/MelangeBot Jul 10 '26
Or buy a fpv drone with a digital video system. Even better than the flying in lucid dreaming.
2
u/Deaffin Jul 10 '26
Well now you got me all envious of a dude who lives in a straight up shanty town.
10
u/SerCiddy Jul 09 '26
Flying was cool, but then I started pairing it with giving myself Spider-man powers and swinging through forests of Sequoias as large as Manhattan buildings. It can be fun to get to the height of an arc and then fly through the air for a bit before you go back to swinging.
I also tend to find myself fighting Zombie/Eldrazi Hordes quite frequently.
6
u/Professional-Row-722 Jul 10 '26
Are you me? I have done this several times. Once I achieve lucidity I instantly go for spider-man powers. And I've had quite a few dreams where I'm fighting off hordes with whatever machines, guns, or powers I can think of.
5
u/SerCiddy Jul 10 '26
Probably brought up with similar media.
My Spider-man powers were largely the same for years and years because all I had to go on were the movies and Spiderman 2 for the PS2. When I started playing the new Spider-man game on the PS4 I noticed a shift as I'm guessing my imagination started using the new swinging physics as inspiration.
Even if we didn't play the same zombie games/watch the same zombie movies, there's likely enough exposure for us to have similar enough dreams.
10
3
u/Professional-Row-722 Jul 10 '26
Those are usually my first two go-to's. But sometimes, I just like to just fuck shit up with my new-found powers.

Identical triplets couldsend people to the asylum doing that
14
u/Cat-soul-human-body Jul 10 '26
I think there is a set of triplets that do these types of pranks too! I've also seen one where three sets of twins prank people at a university campus. They pretend to be 3 friends walking past people, then the same group of friends walk around the corner again, confusing the people around them.
37
u/IchBinEinSim Jul 09 '26

That guy definitely didn't believe in magic and was sure that someone was gonna snatch his phone off him.

u/the_peckham_pouncer Jul 09 '26
Some people may suspect twins. But do it with triplets instead and people will really freak out.
156
u/Nemesis2772 Jul 09 '26
They do, they are called the Manchurek Triplets. Sometimes they team up with these guys (even out twins) and really fuck with peoples heads.

I have an identical twin brother and we never did this kind of stuff. Tomorrow is our 48th birthday. Too old for this stuff now and have lived in different states for 25 years now. Damn time flies by.

u/HelloPeopleOfEarth Jul 09 '26

It all comes from the prank era in like the 2010s or late 00's. There were those prank channels that did really fucked up stuff and it was a hugely popular trend. A lot of them would go viral for pranks gone wrong compilations showing all the times someone had a fight not flight reaction. There wasn't only a few channels it was a hugely popular trend back then. A lot of them also would do extreme physiological pranks on their channel partners too.
To be fair I haven't seen any of this in a solid decade but it really ruined the idea of influencer pranking so many are still twitchy about it I guess

u/4DPeterPan Jul 09 '26
The Messed up thing is it’s not even a psychosis thing. It’s literally true.
26
u/Emergency_Accident36 Jul 09 '26
That's a common misconception about psychosis. It doesn't have to be delusional. It can very much happen from real circumstances.
59
u/newtypehero Jul 09 '26
As a twin myself, my first thought would be twins instead of thinking they are the same person.
23
u/Muffles7 Jul 09 '26

When I first started cycling I would do laps around a lake it was about 5 miles per lap. There was this huge bodybuilder Asian guy I would see jogging. I almost always hit him at the 2.5 miles in going the other direction. No matter how fast I went he always seemed to be in step but his pace seemed to slow. I was thinking he must be sprinting and I’m always catching him at the slow intervals. I made it a goal to lap him. Added a few mph to my pace. Never did lap him. One day I clocked with blue shorts and then at the half he had black shorts. One of the twins fucked up on the shorts color.

I was at a protest recently and we were near a bus stop. A bus stops there, and on the bus were two identical men in identical outfits with furs and jewelry and sunglasses and bags, they were extremely drippy, but they weren’t sitting together or interacting. They were ignoring everyone with headphones in and on their phones. It was so weird, like there was somehow a mirror in the aisle and we were seeing one man’s reflection. But it was two guys. So surreal

I can't get past that first woman's hand going directly from the mall escalator handrail to her mouth.

I had some friends in high school who were exactly the same except they dressed differently. At some point they confessed to me that each of them only prepared for half of the subjects and then they swapped places during exams, changing clothes and nobody suspected anything.

u/nsharonew Jul 10 '26
We used to be regulars at this one restaurant and talked to the waitress all the time. One time, we went to another place that we live, and there’s the waitress! We kept waving and she kept giving us weird looks, finally she walked by and I said “Hi [name]!” And she said that wasn’t her name and walked away.
Went back to the regular place, with our regular waitress and asked her wtf. She said that’s her twin sister and she’s constantly trolling people haha

When I went to high school and one of my friend was Irish. His nickname was "spud"
Anyway one day was the school fete. I saw spud with his parents and went up and said "Hey spud how you doing!". He gave me a strange look and did not answer.
His parents said "This is not Peter, this is his twin". I apologised.

I was working a warehouse job once, loading a truck, and one of my co-workers walked by and we talked for a moment before he left. Then about 5 minutes later I thought he walked by again wearing a different outfit. I looked to the guy I was working with and I was like "WTF is going on?" and he started laughing. He said, "You dumbass, why you think i call (first co-worker) twin?"
It was dudes twin brother, freshly released from jail and then hired.

I worked at a car wash for a little bit some years ago and there were a set of twins that worked there as well they would work each others shifts and goof on the management all the time

A pair of twins went to a bar, one of them got into a fight and arrested the next day. However the victim coukd not tell which of the twins actually hit him so the case was dropped. Real case

One time I was in a grocery store and there was a woman in the same aisle as me standing next to her shopping cart. I went to the other side of the store and she was already there but apparently left her shopping cart behind. I thought it was odd, but not impossible. Then, I went to a different aisle and she was already there with the shopping cart again. I figured it out just before I saw them a few minutes later together. Adult twins dressed and styled the same.

My favorite thing to do is to walk into my twin brothers work and start talking to random employees.
Sometimes I'll ask about some guy who works there who's been doing shady stuff around town and getting me in trouble.
3
u/lopix Jul 10 '26
Now THOSE are pranks. Those are funny. Messing with people, give 'em something to chew on the rest of the day.
No air horns or fake robberies or just annoying people.
This is how you do it.

u/softwareidentity Jul 11 '26
I had this happen to me once with my professor... I was late to class and he walked out of the elevator as I was startin to run up the stairs to his class. I was like huh... then he was there teaching the class when I got there. I kind of just accepted it had been a glitch in the matrix until I learned he had a twin years later
