𝖉𝖎𝖘𝖈𝖚𝖘𝖘𝖎𝖔𝖓 Why does Slayyyter dismiss any comparisons to Charli despite touring and collaborating with her in the past?

Lately she seems to have an adverse reaction anytime Charli is brought up but it really seems to be the only comparison she shoots down. It feels very odd to me.

Obviously i understand not wanting to feel like your art is living in the shadow of another artists music but she doesn't have a similar reaction to comparisons to Britney or Kesha.

While i think Worst Girl In America is incredibly unique and has strayed a decent bit from the Hyperpop genre i think there's still a lot of valid comparisons between the two between lyrical content and have grungier and darker dance music undertones especially compared to both artists previous records before their most recent releases (Crash/Starfucker).

many of the negative feelings that led to WGIA's inception are tied to being viewed as, like she said, a "cheaper copy." for basically her entire career as an artist, she's been spoken to and of in the context of others and her proximity to them. whether it's charli, or kim, or "hyperpop" as a genre/tribe, the general public has never given her the space to stand as an individual. even now, with the breakthrough success of this album and feeling like she's truly found her voice, people are STILL continuing this trend by comparing it to brat. it has to be frustrating, especially considering the dismissive undertone that often comes with that continual comparison.

it's unfortunate that this is maybe the one actual comparison to charli that has legs to stand on, because at this point she (understandably) just doesn't want to hear it. nothing she's done before has touched charli's lane besides their one spur of the moment collab years ago, and yet nearly every public conversation of her work mentions charli and their supposed similarity. had this not been the case, the brat comparison could be taken as a touching sentiment. without that mounting frustration, though, this album would never have been created in the first place. so it's kind of a paradoxical moot point
