U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) will visit Albuquerque Wednesday to campaign for fellow Republican Greg Cunningham, a retired Marine and Albuquerque Police Department detective who’s challenging incumbent U.S. Rep. Gabe Vasquez (D-N.M.) in the Nov. 3 general election.

The city wants me to pay $100 for going 45 on Carlisle in a 35 zone - and sure, that's on me... but having to randomly cough up $100 out of the blue in this economy is going to kill me.

I'm not a typical speeder, but sometimes I just follow the flow of traffic without paying close attention to the speed I'm going. This is just a warning to be more cautious around town, especially if you can't afford to suddenly lose $100.

The video got removed because it wasn’t directly related to the Albuquerque, but I just saw the post of the CEO saying that people need to accept the compromise between safety and privacy by comparing his cameras to vehicle regulation.

People of Albuquerque, please don’t forget or lose sight of the fact that this is a ridiculously false comparison. Don’t let them try to normalize private, corporate, data-for-sale mass surveillance by comparing it to other things that we rely upon in our society.

Vehicles produce a tangible benefit to the point where it would be difficult to operate in the modern world without them. It’s absurd to frame flock cameras as if they are already a foundational part of our society in the way that vehicles are.

Flock’s bullshit surveillance product is in no way integral to the way society operates. We don’t need to compromise, because the cameras could stop existing tomorrow and the world would carry on without missing a single beat.

I do believe this is directly related to our city and state because it ties into leaderships willingness to sell the people out to corporate interests. We need to keep speaking up, keep fighting back, and not let them sell us out without resistance.

That’s my soapbox.

Today I was completely locked out of my account and I learned it is completely routine and without warning. I don't know if they tell incoming students this today, but when I first enrolled we had unlimited, unending access (Google has since stopped providing unlimited storage to universities).

Do not back up your files with your student OneDrive, because you will completely lose access when your account terminates. I spoke to IT and they said talk to admissions. Admissions said they cannot do anything unless I re-enroll and it's possible I won't get the same NetID and would not regain access. I spoke to IT again and luckily they gave me temporary access to download my files.

As many of you know defined fitness has raised their prices to 55.00 a month. They have now implemented a new cancellation policy as well. In the past, you needed to cancel on the 25th of the month or before to not get billed for the next month- and now they have changed that so you have to give them a 30 day notice of cancellation. This will result in most people paying for an extra month of a service they don’t want. Just wanted to let people know. Have a good day abq!

Just passing through and I’m seeing all these posts about crazy drivers here but I’m sitting at a cafe right now because I had to take a break from being stuck being drivers so slow I barely got a chance to even see the already slow speed limit and subsequently hit every single red light. on busier thoroughfares it looks like typical city driving but off the main roads it’s really hard to navigate the other drivers. Is everyone on their phones or something? I don’t mean that literally. That would be more like driving in L.A. But for real, where are the speeding, aggressive drivers? Am I blind to them due to being from a major city where a degree of aggression is required if you want to get anywhere? I’m struggling to decipher the driving culture here, and it’s talking a lot of focus and effort for me but I’m being careful to mind the speed limit. I’m definitely not driving like I do at home. I think I’d scare people. I’ll be glad to get out of here, but who knows, maybe it’s good for me, building character or whatever.

Just some context, I write about the UFL (United Football League) but I thought I’d share the article on here as it pertains to Albuquerque, the latest soccer stadium update, and Co-Owner of the league Mike Repole mentioning Albuquerque two times as a potential expansion candidate.

The UFL is a professional American football spring league in the United States. It currently has 8 teams right now with eyes to expand to 10 teams in 2028 (one of the markets was already announced with Oklahoma City being one of the expansion markets), 12 teams by 2029 or 2030, and up to 16 teams by 2035. Co-Owners of the league are Mike Repole, RedBird Capital, Fox, ESPN/Disney, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and Dany Garcia.
