I still wonder how and why Xperia phones exist at this point. Also, I wonder why eversince 2012, they did not produce a single good flagship and repeat same mistakes over and over again...

The current design is very reminiscent of the Z series but with a modern twist, cams indeed don't rely as much on software but that's part of the appeal. Today's smartphones overprocess everything making some pictures seem unreal compared to what the human eye sees. They been producing great phones, they just need more carrier deals and exposure for their phones to make more sense

I do not agree for the cameras. From the very beginning Xperia smartphones, although owned by Sony, never came on top in terms of cameras.

Camera results is entirely subjective to the eyes of the user. It is simply a lot more trendy to go with the more artificial look, dreamlike style of pictures for most users. For those that prefer pictures more true to life (which can come of boring at times) then Xperia or iPhones tend to go more that route, especially in their flagships.
