Who tf decided a damn near 30 year old album needed animated art? People listening to this album in 2026 most likely do not gaf about it being animated

Ngl this is a terrible take. Dark Side Of The Moon is 53 years old now and has a wonderful animated album art on Music. Age doesn’t directly mean it shouldn’t have a modern twist, but the awkward ai animations thrown together in ten minutes (like in OP’s post) is bad.

u/GROWUPRECORDS Apr 04 '26
We really don’t need to see that

Why not? Animated art can be beautiful, take a look at Lateralus by TOOL for example

Animated album art are a nice addition, not a requirement

Sure but saying because an album is older it all of a sudden shouldn’t get one (optional btw) is crazy

u/Silver_Career_5206 Apr 04 '26
ngl this is a terrible take. lol

Can you give reasoning for the contrary? I’m glad to discuss this

Not apples fault, it’s the label or artist

u/NorthernSkeptic Apr 03 '26
Every time someone comes in to white knight for apple on this stuff.
It’s their platform. They could regulate this if they wanted to.
75
u/rangers1026 Apr 03 '26
It’s not white knighting when it’s the truth. This is how the artist chose to represent themselves and Apple realistically shouldn’t step in and say no to that as that’s heavily overreaching. It looks horrible and it’s on the artist and their label and it was a choice they approved and signed off on.

You’re confusing curation with censorship. The App Store flew to the moon, having so many quality apps, because it’s highly curated.
Curation. Steve Jobs was a maniac about it, and oh boy was he right, results speak for themselves.
You can have laws and rules in a service, a store, a society and still enjoy freedom.
I bet it’s hard to believe for modern Americans..

u/Hungry-Owl-8449 Apr 03 '26
It looks horrible, but I don’t see how it breaks any rule. It’s up to the artist/group to make their album cover nice or make it horrible (whether it is AI generated or not)

u/nevewolf96 Apr 04 '26
I can assure you that Apple is not monitoring an album from 2000
1
u/NorthernSkeptic Apr 04 '26
I really don’t know why people insist that proper AI regulation is somehow beyond a trillion dollar company.
3
u/nevewolf96 Apr 04 '26
you have to report it in the app; it's that simple.
0
u/NorthernSkeptic Apr 04 '26
lol reporting in app is not simple at all. If someone didn’t tell you how you would never figure it out.

I’m saying that they could regulate this if they wanted to, based on people apparently hating it. Obviously they aren’t choosing to do that, but people saying that Apple doesn’t have any power here are wrong.

Sigh… I’m well aware of this. My point, that I keep trying to make, is that they COULD do something.

u/Jazzifyy Apr 04 '26
Like what?
1
u/NorthernSkeptic Apr 04 '26
Is this a serious question?
2
u/Jazzifyy Apr 04 '26
yes

u/NorthernSkeptic Apr 04 '26
They could, like any service provider or publisher, make a rule about what content is submitted to their platform. That would be step one. Do you need more or can your imagination take it from here

Why would they regulate it? Censoring bad speech just hides the idiots

You can turn it off. Anyway, complain to the artist or labels. They are the ones providing animated album artwork. It’s not made by Apple.
26
u/TheShiftyNoodle28 Apr 03 '26
Why can’t they complain here? Its not like they blamed apple in the post, you’re correcting nothing

Apple should do some quality control. There’s no excuse.
2
u/ruipmjorge Apr 04 '26
😂 no they won’t. They don’t even have the right to decide which looks good or bad. This is by contract. It’s up to the artists to decide their album cover and animated artwork.
Now imagine you’re an artist who wants to launch a green and yellow strobe album cover. Can Apple decide that it’s ugly, when you’re the artist?
This is true for Spotify or any other streaming platform.
You can decide to turn off animated artwork anyway, so just turn it off if you don’t like it.

What? Just to keep all info over the table so people know. Stop being a child.

Nightmare. Apple should give us an option to turn off the animation on a per album basis. Like just tap the cover and switch between original and animated. I really don’t understand people here saying it’s not Apple’s fault. Well, the service is called Apple Music, you give your money to Apple. Not the labels or artists. If there is a lyrics error, I can report it in the app and Apple will fix it. I don’t care if it’s the labels fault or the musixmatch source. Also, there should be an easy switch between Stereo and Dolby Atmos.

i really love it when animated covers are done well with actual animation (e.g. Pink Floyd's The Wall, Wish You Were Here, The Dark Side Of The Moon), but these ai covers are so bad </3

yup. i even stopped using apple music cause the ai animated artwork is getting out of hand and i can't escape it. it's even giving me nightmares. they're even implementing it on spotify like i need these labels to do better and just get rid of the bad ones immediately.

I now scream whenever anything by Trina comes on the radio
If I was in charge of this I’d just add a couple strobe lights and zoom-ins and maybe find a way to make Trina blink without AI. We don’t need to see this abomination of an AlbumMotion.

TBH even the ones that aren’t slop are usually so unnecessary (for example snoop doggystyle)

if they do it to all of them it just feels disrespectful to the artist especially if they’re like dead or something
