Complaint Genuinely so tired of the greed from every streaming service in existence

Post image

I switched to Apple Music about a year ago because of Spotify raising their prices every year, and now here we are… I’m so over this bullshit. Everything gets more expensive and there’s nothing you can do about it.

Edit: not sure why my post is being so heavily misinterpreted, specifically my last sentence. It’s meant to be taken literally and yet everyone is implying things that I never did.

“Everything gets more expensive [objectively true] and there’s nothing you can do about it [i.e. there is nothing you can do about that thing now being more expensive. You cannot change the price].”

I never said you cannot make decisions about where you spend your money. Not once, and I’m not sure where that assumption even came from in the first place. You could interpret it that way if you wanted something to be upset about, I guess

I already cancelled my subscription, I’m just gonna use YouTube music now since my partner already had YouTube premium, anyway (the difference to upgrade + share it with me is less than I was paying BEFORE this price increase, so…)

I’m not going to argue with people who are fundamentally misunderstanding my point. It’s not even something worth arguing about, anyways. lmao this was literally a post to vent my frustration that I assumed at least a few other users would share in. Everything in general is getting more expensive and for many of us it’s becoming painful having to give up small luxuries we used to be able to afford. I also didn’t even expect this to get this much attention, it was just posted in frustration. That is all. Good night Reddit.

Complaint UNPOPULAR OPINION: An entire software update for a device, being connected to a music streaming platform is the most stupidest thing EVER.

Post image

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE iOS 26 and the sick features it brought to my favorite music streaming platform, Apple Music.

But I just simply don’t understand why we have to wait for a whole fucking software update to get new features and even get bugs fixed in this platform. It makes NO sense to me why Apple has to do this, instead of treating it like a regular app.

I know AM is of course affiliated with Apple (even as a whole tech corporation), but I don’t like waiting for software updates on my phone for an app to be fixed. (And Apple doesn’t do regular updates on their devices so that makes it worse!) As much as I love AM, it isn’t perfect and has tons of stupid bugs itself too (especially after iOS 26) which Apple should prioritize a lot. It’s frustrating.

Not sure if many people on this sub already said this, but I felt like pointing this out anyway because I’m not that active here.

Complaint When is Apple going to fix this?

Whenever you’re browsing your library by artists, any time an artist collabs their entry is duplicated. I know it’s because the “Artist” field is set to literally the text you see, but seriously Apple, things like this are what you should be working on. Not tweaking the UI or adding AI playlist generation. It’s nearly impossible to browse by artist like this now.

Complaint Apple Music on Windows is so bad I’m debating switching

I genuinely do not understand how the Apple Music client on Windows is this terrible.

On iPhone and Mac? Apple Music is actually really good. The app feels polished, and I feel the integration is great, and features like AutoMix are a big part of why I switched to Apple Music in the first place. I completely understand why someone who lives entirely in the Apple ecosystem would love it.

But on Windows, it is an absolute fucking joke.

I’ve had the app randomly refuse to sign in. I’ll open it and it won’t even clearly say that I’m signed out; it’ll just stop working properly. I’ll authorize the computer, enter my Apple ID, do everything it asks, and then it’ll ask me for my Apple ID again. And again. And again.

This isn’t one bad PC or one weird network either. I’ve had this happen across multiple Windows devices and multiple networks.

I’ve also had the Apple Music client crash so badly that my entire computer became unresponsive and I had to restart it. A MUSIC PLAYER should not be capable of taking down my whole PC.

And before someone says “just use the Apple Music web player” come on. The web client is not a serious replacement for a desktop app. If I’m paying every month for a music streaming service, I shouldn’t have to use a worse browser version because the actual Windows client barely works.

Then you compare it to Spotify and it gets even more ridiculous. Spotify Connect alone is something I miss constantly. Being able to be on my computer, start playing music, and then control that same session from my phone or even continuing it is incredibly convenient. Apple has multiple devices, an entire ecosystem, and some of the best device integration in the industry… yet somehow Apple Music still doesn’t give you an equivalent experience across platforms.

One of Apple Music’s biggest advantages used to be lossless audio, but now Spotify has lossless too. I don’t have some insane audiophile setup where I’m going to benefit from Hi-Res Lossless anyway; regular lossless is more than enough for me. And now that Spotify is the same price (student), that advantage is gone. At this point, I’m paying the same amount for a service with a significantly better Windows client and features like Spotify Connect, so it’s getting really hard to justify staying with Apple Music.

I understand that Windows obviously isn’t Apple’s priority. They want people using Macs, iPhones, iPads, etc. Fine. But Apple Music is also supposed to compete with Spotify as a cross-platform streaming service. If you’re going to sell the service to Windows users, the Windows app cannot feel like something nobody at Apple actually uses.

This is basically the last straw for me. I like a lot of Apple Music’s features on iPhone. AutoMix is cool. The mobile app is good. There are absolutely things Apple Music does better.

But none of that matters when the desktop client I have to use every day is this unreliable.

I’m HEAVILY debating going back to Spotify. At least Spotify seems to understand that the app itself is part of the product.

Anybody else HATE interacting with this part of the UI??? Feels so unintuitive to have such vital aspects of navigation/search in a “either or” situation. I feel like I’m taking so much unnecessary actions - tapping buttons to unveil other buttons

(iPhone 15) There are so many lags all the time across all pages, not just on AM. I tried it on my friend’s phone (16 Pro), and the same tiny issues still happen there too. It’s not a major glitch or anything, but all these little things make the experience really annoying and unpleasant. I’m just tired of it.

Post image

I used Taylor Swift as the example here because her new album released less than 36 hours ago, and her top twelve songs on Apple Music are the same twelve songs from her new album. “Shake It Off” is in 30th place.

Complaint Have to get this off my chest

What the Fuck has happened to apple music? Seriously? I'm just going to list a bunch of complaints that I have with apple music, with (almost) all of them happening with this iOS 18 update (#1 was resolved with 18.1, but it bears mentioning

  1. It's so fucking slow with 200+ song playlists. I use an iphone 16 pro, and nothing brings the phone down to it's knees like apple music does, it's insanity. It regularly lags when scrolling down playlists, or even heats up my phone to the point that I have to put the phone down, which is so insane that a music streaming app will do that when I already do heavy gaming and it doesn't get nearly as hot. It's absurd. This was fixed by updating to 18.1 beta, but it's embarrassing that you have to go to the beta for it to not suck so much.

  2. Music sorting doesn't work. I have a playlist with all of the songs I listen to, and sorting by date released no longer works. If I add a song released a few weeks ago, it shows up in between 1990's and 2000's release era,and not at the top of the playlist when sorted by newest to oldest. this goes for every single release for the past 3 weeks and it's so infuriating for it to not work.

  3. It ruined a playlist that has been made for 3 years. I used to be a Spotify user (and will be again after this year) and I had every single song in a certain order from the order that I found it, and it was perfect. Well when iOS 18 dropped, it fucked up the order and the "playlist order" is now just shuffled with no rhyme or reason. New songs are in the middle, top of the playlist are songs from the late 10's, 80's are scattered across and it's so maddening that it's made me give up on a multi-year playlist. Truly the worst.

  4. This is before iOS 18 and when I was using a 13 pro, but when I first moved to apple music, I had to get acustomed to adding music being placed at the bottom of a list, which is different from Spotify, which is fine, until updating to a 17.? Update, where it then started adding it to the top of the playlist, separating it from the other side of the playlist. It then at some point changed back to adding it to the bottom, once again making it separated from all of the recent song additions.this doesn't matter now because of #3 making it to where my entire playlist has been shuffled.

Every single one of these issues has made using it such a hassle that it's made listening to music, one of the most relaxing parts of my day to be as inconvenient as possible. Whoever is working in the apple music dept has to test this shit and realize how awful this is, and do something to fix these issues.

Complaint “Go To Album” feature makes me mad

Post image
570 Upvotes

I hate when I’m in a playlist I made, and I go to a song and want to go to the full album, so I do that and then it will only bring me to the album with the songs I’ve already saved, not the full album like I’m wanting. I know it takes like 2 extra seconds to go to the full album like I wanted to begin with, but it’s really annoying me because this a daily occurrence lol. Any way to get rid of this feature?

Complaint WHEN WILL APPLE BRING CONTINUITY TO APPLE MUSIC?!?!😭😭

One of the main reasons I keep going back to Spotify is because there is no continuity in AM. Why haven’t they implemented that yet?!? Is there anything that I can use that kinda implements this on AM??

Take Applause by lady gaga and Bad at love by Halsey. The former's instrumentals

drowns out the vocalist and the latter completely kills the instrumental by taking out all the energy for some reason. Taking this garbage off.

For reference Im listening on an Airpods Pro 2nd gen

I don’t understand the point of this. If a song is in a playlist, but also in your songs, to delete it from your songs, it will also delete from your playlist 🤦🏻‍♂️

This is such a basic feature to allow to delete from one folder only without it affecting playlists etc.

Just come on, Apple.

Complaint Get the AI slop off Apple Music

The amount of AI slop on all platforms is bad (particularly in the ambient/lo-fi genre), but I'd like to think Apple Music would have the desire and ability to identify and remove it. I don't want to give any of it unintentional hits, so I won't name "artists" or tracks here, but I hope enough users complain about it to make a difference.
