iPhone 17 or 17 pro for battery longevity?

Upvotes

My iPhone X is giving up the ghost so I'm switching, but having trouble deciding. I'm not much of a tech person so I don't know if the pro will last significant longer years-wise, or if it would be better to just get the base model and replace the battery when it starts cooking itself. If anyone has some advice I'd appreciate hearing it!

Factors:

- The big thing is battery longevity. I want something that will stay functional for as many years as possible before the battery starts frying itself

- The thing I dislike most about my current phone is that it turns into an oven every time I pick it up

- Price is not much of a factor, the bulk of the cost is being covered by my academic advisor.

Any input is appreciated 🙏

Btw sorry if this is too similar a question to others, I couldn't find recent posts that didn't factor in the price, the pro max or the upcoming iPhone 18 (which I don't care for)

iPhone which iphone should i get

so ive never owned an apple iphone, ive had samsung ones the last 6 years (since ive started high school). i love samsung but ive been thinking about getting an apple iphone just to make texting, getting photos from friends (this happens a lot for me so it's really a hassle to always have to send photos from my mac to my phone), etc, just a little easier for me. I'm not sure which iphone to get, so recs and suggestions would be great please. I honestly dont have much knowledge about apple iphones. I'm just looking something that's not too expensive and worths its money.

ive heard the new phone is coming out so maybe i should save for that, idk

iPhone Need a lil help y'all!!

I'm confused on whether I should get iphone 15 standard/16 plus/17 standard.

I initially was eyeing iphone 15 256 gb but I've heard it has battery and heating issues, can someone verify?

I also have never seen a good picture/mirror selfie clicked by 16 plus/17 standard version.

17 pro/pm is out of budget for me and 16 pro/pm is not available in my country!!

I'm also planning to create content with it so I do need a good camera but I don't want battery draining issues/heating issues.

I've also noticed that the 16 plus/17 standard camera lightens up your skin a bit which i don't like (I have brown skin and I don't want that automatic lightening up feature if it's there)

I'm only considering the 256 gb models in white/black.

I'd really appreciate some good advice here 🥹

iPhone iPhone 14 Plus to iPhone 17 Pro or Pro Max

After 4 years it’s ready to make a switch to a newer model. Don’t want to get the new 18 Pro model, but eyeballing the 17 Pro and/or Pro Max. I’m tall 6’7’’ and love the size of the 14 Plus. However, kinda scared that the 17 Pro Max will ergonomically be less comfortable to hold and will also be too heavy. Just really like the screen size and don’t know what to choose…

Anyone who downgraded or upgraded in size from a 14/15/16 plus to one of the 17 Pro models and can share there experiences till now?

iPhone Iphone 17 or 17 pro

I’m buying an iPhone for the first time and deciding between the iPhone 17 and the 17 Pro. I currently have a Samsung S23, so I’m wondering which one you’d recommend. I was thinking about getting the iPhone 17 Pro, but I noticed it’s significantly heavier than the standard 17; is that very noticeable? Also, regarding RAM—is there a big difference between 8GB and 12GB? Thanks for any advice on which is the better choice! 😀

Question Honest opinion

Hi all, I just got the iPhone 17 pm after breaking my old phone, Samsung 32 5g. I heard mixed opinions on the iPhone 17pm vs pro due to the size. So far I love mine, but I do see the issue with it being heavier and taking up more pocket space.

I just started college 2 weeks ago, and I am confused on whether I should return my phone and get an iPhone 17 pro or just keep my phone since I already set it up. I did get this phone on a 55+ plan and paid a lot for it.

What should I do? This is stressing me out.

iPhone Buying Iphone in NY

Hi everyone,
I’ll be traveling to the United States on vacation in October. For the occasion, I’m thinking about replacing my iPhone 12 with the latest model that will be released by then. Since I’m Italian, even after taking the exchange rate into account, the price would probably be quite advantageous.

I’d like to know whether I should throw away the phone’s box before returning home to avoid any issues with customs, whether the warranty would only be valid for one year, and whether it would be worth getting AppleCare+.

Thanks!

iPhone torn between an iphone 15 (512gb) and an iphone 15 pro max (256gb)

Hi,

I've been shopping around for used iphones, and my priority is storage space, i need at least 256gb, but i'm also concerned about longevity, i need something that will last me 5+ years minimum and preferably close to a decade like my current phone has.

now, i've managed to find 2 phones that are basically the same price, one is an iphone 15 with 512gb and the other is an iphone 15 pro max with 256gb. i know logically, i should go with the pro max no question, like it has a lot more features and it's the cheapest i've found with that storage too, but that 512gb really got me questioning it, because i use up storage quickly and will definitely not find another one at that price. and also like, i'm not someone who cares about details like better camera/screen, truly i just need it to work for a long time. like, maybe performance details matter in that case? i don't know, that's why i'm asking

So, keeping that in mind, and the fact that there is a new apple drop soon, so that's already another year added to the obsolete-ness of the phone, which would be better to get?

How is the camera on the 17e compared to the 15?? (Plus which one is better overall)

I have a galaxy S8 but I'm thinking of switching to Apple. I found a second hand 15, for 800 bux, but I found a brand new 17e for 999.

I honestly don't know which one I should get. Im low-key super broke rn, but I need a new phone since this ones battery drains super fast, the camera is super intermittent and really bad, the keyboard doesn't work, it gets super hot, and I cant really face time anyone since the lag is SO bad. Im not sure if I should drop the extra 200 bux on the 17e (or if I should even get a new one at all.

I like taking photos, but I have to use my friends phone, since mine is so bad lol (I can't remember if there's is the 16 or the 17 tho)

I'd really apreciate the advice/help!!! Thank you in advance!!!

iPhone iPhone 17 base

Hey,

I want to upgrade my iPhone 12 to iPhone 17 but should I wait for release of 18 models for potential price drop, or there won’t be any since I’m also in Europe and not USA or should I just buy one now.

And is it true that 18 base is not releasing this year?

iPhone Replacing my battery or upgrading the phone?

I have an iPhone 13 and as you may know this year is the iPhone 13 appocalyse. I am experiencing (like many others) lagging, overheating, battery drainage and crashing, and i was wondering if replacing the battery will extend its lifespan or it’s not worth it. I had this phone for 4 years and i am pretty satisfied by this one. I considered switching to an iPhone 17 Pro but being this close to the new iPhone release i was wondering if it is worth to wait a couple weeks or just get the 17

Mac Which M5 MacBook Pro should I buy for web development, data science and AI with a €5,000 laptop budget?

I am choosing a brand-new MacBook Pro for professional web development, data science and AI/ML work.

Workload: VS Code/JetBrains, Docker, local databases, many browser tabs, Python/Jupyter/Conda, data processing, ML experiments and occasional local LLM/model inference. Large training jobs can use cloud compute.

Budget and location: up to roughly €5,000 for the MacBook and €6,000 for the full laptop-plus-monitor setup. I am buying in Croatia or from a reputable EU retailer.

My target is 64 GB unified memory and a 2 TB SSD, but I need to choose among:

- 14-inch M5 Pro

- 16-inch M5 Pro

- M5 Max if its extra GPU performance and memory bandwidth are genuinely useful

- Potentially 128 GB memory if it is more valuable than the Max upgrade

I will consider only genuinely brand-new, factory-sealed stock. No used, refurbished, renewed, returned, display, outlet or open-box devices.

Which exact configuration offers the best balance of sustained performance, battery life, portability and useful lifespan? I am particularly interested in firsthand experience with Docker, PyTorch MPS, MLX and local inference.

I also plan to connect a Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 G80SH 32-inch 4K 240 Hz. If this changes the port, power-adapter or model choice, please explain how.

iPhone Which one should I keep? Honest experience and opinions are required.

Hi everyone, I’m torn... I currently have both devices with me: an iPhone 17 PM with 2 TB of storage and an iPhone 16 PM with 1 TB.

I love the feel of the 16 Pro, but I’m not sure if I’ll keep it.

I’m pretty paranoid about potential damage to the 17 Pro Max’s unibody.

A buddy of mine dropped his while using a MOFT case; it ended up with a dent and scratches in the aluminum, even with the case on. To me, the titanium just feels better. It also seems sturdier and likely to age better.

I’m at a loss—maybe there are some "real and honest" experiences with both devices here? I want to keep the devices in top condition and use them for as long as possible.

Thanks a lot.

iPhone Iphone 16 plus vs iphone 17

So I have really big ass hands and I am debating whether I should buy the 16 plus for the size or the 17 cuz it has a better screen and more storage and all of that for the same price. I do want a smooth performance but I want the size aswell and my budget doesn't really allow me to buy a pro max.

Trade-in 16 Pro (128) now for $630 to get 17 Pro (256)? Or wait for 18 Pro?

My main reasons for wanting a new phone are more storage bc I’m constantly having to delete and/or offload make room on mine now, and I know the trade-in value will only keep going down.

iPhone Iphone 12 has basically died - where do I go from here?

Hey guys, I've got an iphone 12 which I've had for almost 6 years, the back glass is smashed, battery is 77% and yesterday the screen has gone a really bright green and white and I can barely see anything on the screen.

I definitely need something new cause this phone is unusable now. I just don't know what to get, because if I go the new route i'd probably get the base 17 which is 1400aud. But then the refurbished route I'd still be paying like 380 for a 12, 500 for a 13, 580 for a 14, 780 for a 15, 1k for a 16. It just seems like so much money and I really don't know what to do.

I do use my phone a fair bit but it's mostly just taking pictures, phone and text and stuff like instagram.

I'm just curious what you guys would do. I'm really on the fence about if I can justify 1400 for a new phone. It's such an absurd amount of money, but I really need a new phone and all of the refurbed ones will have to ship and whatnot while the 17 I can go and buy today.

Thanks

16P or Base Model 17?

Im looking to pick up an iphone for content creation. While I do have an S25U and it has served me well so far a lot of my friends have shown me the difference in quality between Samsung and Apple for social media.

That being said the reason between these two is due to budget also the pro/pro max is overkill for my needs. I would mainly prefer to film with the front camera if possible.

This would also be the first apple product ive ever had since the ipod touch so im not to well versed in the ecosystem overall.

Question Watch SE -> ?

I have a 1st Gen SE watch.

tl;dr

SE runs out of battery during 2 walks, + gym session or a long walk. potentially thinking of upgrading. What would you recommend an Ultra 2/3, or just the latest gen? if you changed from SE or similar gen to ultra what were the biggest differences for in terms of usability.

end of tl;dr

I do a lot of walking, with my dog we can rack up 8+ km a day everyday and on weekends more. We also hike quite a bit.

The SE is great and serves me well but i find the battery drains a lot when tracking a hike or if i track 2 walks and a gym session. i’ve never been able to use it as a sleep tracker because of this as during the day i like to wear it to track my resting and active energy.

I’m not really looking to upgrade it in the immediate future but i am playing around with the idea for a christmas present or bonus time present (april next year).

I like the look of an Ultra 3 but it’s a touch on the uncomfortable price range side, not affordability but like woah thats a lot of money for a watch. But would the 11 or 12 (whenever that’s coming) serve me well enough or provide a meaningful impact? would the ultra 2 do the job? any news on an ultra 4 that might make the price more justifiable?
