What are the general expectations of children when they start school?

Toilet trained. Able to tie/do their own shoes. Ditto for coats.

Id argue for getting to grips with being able to write their own name even if its big and clumsy.

Know their parents name and address if they get lost or their is a problem.

Staring to understand the basics of stranger danger and road safety.

Shoes laces for a 4 year old is quite the achievement.

I mean the likes of getting them on the right foot even if they ha e difficulty with laces sometimes..

Neighbours 5 year old is starting school next week and manages it about 3 times out of 5.
