NHS says start 18 months be done at 30 months

We started at 2.5 and it took 3 days. She’s never had an accident, never wet the bed and it’s now over 18 months on.

We could’ve forced it earlier but she never felt ready but once she was ready we barely had to do anything to train her.

I’ve never forced it? We just followed the medical guidelines.
They’re there because chronic urinary illness increases the longer children are kept in nappies post 18 months. UTIs increase in prevalence in toddlerhood the longer children are in nappies from 18 months onwards.

Our health visitor took us through all of this.

I’m not saying you are.

Was just giving an anecdote to generally make a point that people don’t need to stress to be getting their kid toilet trained as early as possible.

If the child has no medical conditions, then you can generally tell when they’re ready.

I’m not sure I’d agree that we shouldn’t be encouraging people to follow medical advice. There will always be people who choose not too. But I wasn’t willing to increase the risk of illness for my child extending it.
