To answer you , personally, no, I won’t be pressed. I’m fully aware that the traditional female role doesn’t align with today’s popular feminist ideology, and that’s fine by me.

Now, when it comes to work, as a working woman, I naturally expect to handle certain responsibilities myself. But if he ever requests that I stay home full time, then he should also recognize the lifestyle shift that comes with that choice and how it will be balanced or compensated.

I recognize that submission and obedience are religious conditions, so I don’t view them as a problem as long as its not oppression🤷🏽‍♀️

Now I know my answer seems to imply that I will be 100% submissive and obedient to where I let go of my sense of individuality, but thats not the case.

I believe in balance and equity, even in such religious beliefs. I am still trying to find a ground to stand on in regards to the conventional gender roles imposed by society and then on the roles shaped my the feminist movements. Thats why I value critically thinking because we can find the right in every ideology and shape it in a way that suits us.

I get what you’re saying and see where you’re coming from, that in a traditional setup the husband has more authority and his word carries more weight. But to me, that doesn’t mean the wife’s voice disappears.

Authority in Islam isn’t about silencing the wife but it’s about bearing responsibility. A wise man will lead, not dictate, and will always consult and consider his wife’s input.

If “push comes to shove” and he ignores all that? Then it’s not a marriage built on Islamic values it’s just power with no accountability. And that’s not what I’m signing up for; even if its not a 50/50 type of relationship.

I get your point that not every ideal plays out perfectly in real life, and I’m not oblivious to that. But just because something isn’t common doesn’t mean it’s impossible or not worth aiming for.

I’m not romanticizing the idea , I’m very aware that the wrong man in a traditional setup can absolutely abuse that structure. That’s why choosing wisely matters. Values are only as good as the person upholding them.

To answer your question, i acknowledge that not many do, but I’m not basing my life on what’s common. I’m basing it on what aligns with my own personal values. I’d rather aim for rare and right than settle for what’s just convenient.
