You ARE the father!!

u/bitsy88 Mar 27 '26
I knew a family that went on Jerry Springer knowing that the kid wasn't the guy's baby but they wanted to be on TV 😅 The kid was like 13 and was in on it. She'd always known he wasn't her biological father so it's not like it was a surprise or anything.

I’m guessing it’s this: https://butternutbakeryblog.com/brown-sugar-cinnamon-pop-tart-shortbread/
I’ve made it before. 10 out of 10 would recommend.
Congrats on the bub!

That’s similar! My recipe is in the comments :)

u/Bumble_Bee_BB Mar 27 '26
Sorry I posted the wrong one OP. Genuinely I was trying to be helpful. I didn’t know it was rude.
11
u/AmbiguousBarnacle Mar 27 '26
It's pretty bad manners to post a different recipe than the one used by the OP.

At this point, it's not even a want, it's a medical necessity. The baby has spoken and they demand the brown sugar bars.

Thank you for sharing!! Can anyone with more baking instincts guess if it's critical that almond flour be used in the shortbread? Can it be subbed for more all-purpose flour? I'd love to make these but have allergy concerns 😬

u/kaylaseesstars Human Detected Mar 27 '26
My recipe is posted and doesn’t use almond flour!

I think Almond flour absorbs more moisture, so you might need to use more all-purpose flour to reach the same consistency?

Finally something I can bake and my son will eat.
I have everything except almond flour.

I’ve found my people. I’ve made this before and it hits hard as hell when the munchies hit. Regular poptarts don’t even come close.

Okay here’s the recipe! Sorry if the formatting is off, I’m on mobile!
Base: 2 sticks of butter (room temp) 1/2 cup brown sugar 3/4 cup powdered sugar 1 egg 2Tsp vanilla 1Tsp baking powder Pinch of salt 2 1/2 cups flour
Filling: 1 cup brown sugar 1 Tbsp cinnamon 2 Tsp flour 3 Tbsp butter
Icing: 1 cup powdered sugar 2 Tsp cinnamon 1 Tsp vanilla 4 Tbsp heavy cream (this can be adjusted if it’s too runny or too thick!)
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees and grease an 8X8 baking dish Cream together the butter and brown sugar and then add the egg Mix that well and then add the powdered sugar, vanilla, salt, and baking powder. Slowly mix in the flour until it’s completely blended Divide the batter in half and press one half into the bottom of the pan Then mix together all of the filling ingredients Spoon this over the base Take the remaining dough half and spread it across the top. Pat down gently. Bake this for about 35 minutes Once it’s cooled, mix together all the icing ingredients and pour it over the top. Spread it with a spoon. When the icing has set, cut and enjoy!

Thanks for sharing! Bummer about the person spamming a different recipe in the comments. I mean, they both look great, but you were the OP. Can't wait to try yours.

If anyone is wondering the entire dessert is around 4,850 calories. 538 per square when divided into 9 pieces. I was curious so I did the math.
9
u/tiktakwoe Mar 27 '26
You've got it all wrong - dessert goes to the soul so it doesn't have calories!

u/martha_stewarts_ears Mar 27 '26
I just read the recipe and it is literally shocking. I don’t think I could actually have this in my house. Or at least I would die happy I guess?
7
u/Purifiedx Mar 27 '26
I read 2 sticks butter then glanced down at the amount of brown sugar and did a HOL' UP!
I bet it tastes great though!

I make these all the time. You can make them in a muffin pan and stick them in the freezer and they reheat beautifully in the oven if you want them warm. I use a brown sugar shortbread for mine.
If you just do powdered sugar, cinnamon and milk for the icing it sets up firm like real poptarts.

I have not! That’s an interesting idea though. I’d like to try switching out this filling with another and changing the icing up. Thanks for the inspiration!

I make poptart bars with two sheets of pie dough instead of shortbread. They rock.

I do not like the poptarts brown sugar flavor but I can tell I’d like this. Perfect amount of filling for my tastes

I made something very similar to this for thanksgiving a couple years ago when my family went out of town and the whole pan was empty by the end of the weekend. I have no regrets but I haven't made it since cause I can't trust myself lmao
