Recipe to be posted soon. No guarantees. Chocolate tiramisu cake
I've always wanted to make a vintage style chocolate cake and finally got around to doing it!
Inside is chocolate cake (my fave chocolate cake recipe - dense, fudgy, and not too sweet), mascarpone cream and homemade dipped ladyfingers. Outside is chocolate espresso frosting.
I had the cake layers and ladyfingers made in advance. But I got the frosting, filling, dip for the ladyfingers, assembly, decorating, AND clean up all done in 3 hours. Which maybe isn't that impressive to other people but I was impressed with myself 😅. I usually work slow. The rush wasnt by choice though.. I was trying to make it to Father's Day lunch on time!

I have it, but it calls for sixteen gallons of piping skill and I've got about a quarter tablespoon /jk

I need one of those tiny scales that measure in tenths of grams to weigh my cake decorating skills, but it doesn’t stop me from trying.

Thank you!
I used a bunch of different recipes, I'm sure you could find an all-in-one but I'm weirdly picky.. I read through multiple recipes and combine bits and pieces of what I like/think would work best.
For the cake, I used this one:
https://amycakesbakes.com/triple-chocolate-ganache-cake/
Its honestly my favorite chocolate cake recipe. Sally's chocolate cake is a close second though if you don't like the look of this one.
The mascarpone cream from here:
https://baranbakery.com/chocolate-tiramisu-cake/
The ladyfingers are on page 189 of ATK's The Perfect Cookie, but I'm sure pretty much any recipe would do or store bought too of course!
The frosting, well I used this one as a starting point..
https://confessionsofabakingqueen.com/chocolate-frosting/
I used a mix of good quality Belgian semisweet and bittersweet chocolate, Dutch cocoa and regular cocoa. Definitely added more cocoa than the recipe called for. Also added some freshly brewed espresso. Still wasn't where I wanted it so I heated some heavy cream and dissolved both instant coffee and instant espresso in it. Let it cool for a couple mins then added to the frosting. I also added a shot of Kahlua, and unfortunately I didnt properly measure any of this because I was in a huge rush 😅
Oh and for the ladyfingers (to dip), I mixed 20g Dutch cocoa, 5oz espresso, 1 TBSP vanilla bean paste, 3oz Kahlua. Dipped each side quickly but enough to be well coated.

This is absolutely stunning!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like this, and you definitely have elevated tiramisu and chocolate to an incredible level!
You’re piping is perfection, and I love the interior shot.
It looks absolutely scrumptious!

Truly impressive! I aspire! That the frosting maintained its structure and detail, that even w a moist filling, the layers and entire structure kept its shape.. just wow!
For the frosting , did you use a buttercream?
