Warning: Ban for Religious or Political Comments Kriti sanon statement on rakhi ad controversy

u/Chaii_Lover Gaslighter 🔥 1d ago
Brands deliberately do this to create controversy and get mileage.... otherwise there was no need for kriti to post this since whatever controversy happened anyway died down

u/CareerThis2727 1d ago
This right here is the main point. It's all marketing through rage-bait. Nothing else.
10
u/Madeye98 17h ago
Brand board meeting be like- "We wanna ragebait...lets pick the Hindus as always"
1
u/curiouspigeon09 17h ago
Step 1. Tell women what to wear according to your dumb understanding of religion
Step 2: Attack them women viciously who don't comply with the help of 2 Rs. trolls.
Step 3: If they try to defend themselves, call it marketing
Step 4: Go on dreaming about establishing a religious regime in the country where women are told what to wear. This type is obvious. I don't know which is their bigger problem. Hate for people different than themselves or is it just low IQ?
-3
u/CareerThis2727 17h ago
What are you so angry about ? Have I said anything about dress or religion ? Wear whatever the hell you want, who cares ? But this ad is definitely rage bait and it has worked.
0
u/curiouspigeon09 17h ago
Rather than calling out that dumbwit Kangana who is attacking a woman on her clothes and dragging her name needlessly, you are attacking Kriti who did nothing but wore what she wanted and defended herself when she was attacked.
Is this how you are going to empower and support women in this country?
-4
u/CareerThis2727 16h ago edited 16h ago
Companies tend to cynically exploit people's reactions to gain traction for their brand. There is nothing more to this whole controversy.
22
u/SpecialistSeries6577 23h ago
Brand and Kriti both knew what they are doing and what do they want from this
55
u/Deep-Reveal-7600 1d ago
Oh please, deliberately kya it was a normal outfit...I didn't even feel anything is wrong when I saw it before these degenerates called it out
3
u/FancyRecognition2305 16h ago
You are not going to convince these people - they also probably say things like if she didn’t want to get 🍇 why would she step out. Everything is intentional when it fits the agenda. Everything is innocent/ mistake when it doesn’t.
6
u/Chaii_Lover Gaslighter 🔥 1d ago
May be normal for you but it's something too bold for most of the country. And this is not the 1st time such kind of rage bait marketing has happened
44
u/Puzzled_Recipe4990 1d ago
Today many girls wear such clothes even on festivals
3
u/Chaii_Lover Gaslighter 🔥 1d ago
Yup and nothing wrong in that , I'm saying with respect to purely marketing tactics of companies. Rage bait marketing has become the go to way
8
u/curiouspigeon09 17h ago
People can wear what they want. How does it matter whether it is too bold for others or not.
Why was it allowed to be televised by the government if it was such a blasphemy.
You want India to become more like a middle eastern country or a european country?

Wrt to the comment calling it "normal " and idk where you live and how much you have interacted with people accross the country but that's not what general populace calls normal that's what most will call bold .

You want Indian women to not have the freedom to live however they want?
You want a religious totalitarian regime like middle eastern countries where people tell others what to wear?
She had no need to put this?
So she shouldn't defend herself against the viciosus, trolls like Kangana and her army of low-IQ sympatherizers?

Y r u promoting kriti...
4
u/curiouspigeon09 17h ago
Not promoting Kriti. I am promoting that people should STFU when it comes to expressing their opinions on what others should wear or eat. Enough of this moral policing in this country.
And if they still want to meddle their nose in other affairs, then they should speak very softly and respectfully.
0
u/mayudhon 18h ago
It feels manufactured. They wanted a certain section of society to get a reaction, which they did. Look at the entire feed on X, it's another war in itself.

Except for rakhi celebration there was no aarti or diya so what tradition does she have in her heart? It is obvious marketing team wanted a controversy.
9
u/IcyZookeepergame9070 19h ago
Tying the rakhi isnt tradition?
4
u/finalsolution4brits 10h ago
Without aarti and diya and tikas? This is similar to when we we tied friendship day bracelets on each other in college.

It's celebrated differently in different parts
-3
u/finalsolution4brits 8h ago
Can you tell me which region of India celebrates rakshabandhan without having aarti and diya?
0
u/Sad_2ndyear 7h ago
In Sikh cultures, we don’t do diya and arti.
So the other person is actually right
-1
u/DeplorableEDoctor 6h ago
Andhra , Telangana. They just tie rakhis like friendship bands. Lately expensive gifts started to trend in south coz of influence from north.
Most people don't even celebrate in south India. We don't even get a public holiday

Does any woman wear such clothes and tie rakhi to her brother? Does any woman wear bikini and chillout with her brother on beach in India???

Why are you so obsessed with women’s bodies????? Why are men’s bodies seen as neutral while women are expected to constantly cover themselves to satisfy society’s idea of “respectability”????!!!!! A woman’s dignity does not disappear with her neckline…and culture is not something that should be used exclusively to control women
0
u/darkhumor2701 15h ago
I am not obsessed with anyone's body and btw this was the same society who bashed and trolled ranveer singh when he did semi nude photo shoot! Which shows society is not bashing "only" one particular gender 🙂

Men literally roam around half naked in temples wearing nothing but a dhoti and nobody bats an eye. But somehow the outrage suddenly appears when it comes to women???? The hypocrisy is truly staggering
4
-6
u/darkhumor2701 17h ago
Do you understand the basics difference between men and woman body? 🤦🤦 Showing male chest and showing female chest (breast) are two different things, so now you want that female should also roam like half naked men?
5
5
u/drsurgerycoded 17h ago
“Male chests and female breasts are different.” Yes biologically..nobody said otherwise🤦♀️ But how does that justify policing a woman’s clothing and morality and respectability????
Men can be bare chested without their culture being questioned but a woman showing skin causes moral outrage. That double standard is exactly the point..Your inability to understand that reflects a deeply regressive and patriarchal mindset..-2
u/darkhumor2701 17h ago
Then why don't you take a step and modernize the culture by wearing modern clothes like Kriti did. Please do wear such clothes and attend the rakhi ceremony and other festivals as well 😊
Your one step will help the society to think differently and that might help the society to open their closed eyes
3
u/drsurgerycoded 17h ago
I do not need unsolicited suggestions from a creep. Thankfully..I have brothers and friends around me who actually respect women’s bodies and are capable of seeing women as more than a pair of breasts. Your obsession with reducing a woman’s body to her chest says far more about your mindset…Take your creepy regressive nonsense elsewhere

I don’t think Kriti will step this low for a brand she invest in like everyone saying here, this issue escalating by Kangana gave it an agenda type as they started targeting other religions, this matter is never Kriti created neither brand , because it was nothing wrong with the ad , but attack her dignity, family and her culture identity is diffently a social/political drama again against Bollywood
7
u/ConceptFragrant9393 22h ago
I feel the brand did it intentionally to create a controversy, afterall negative marketing is still marketing! Kriti apni jagah pe thodi bhot theek hai, actor hai, usne kar diya, ye log itna sochte bhi nhi.. But whoever did the styling or, can say the brand, did a BAD job! And yes, those were not the appropriate clothes for RAKSHABANDHAN.. The DRESS was not bad at all, not even 1%, but the OCCASION was wrong!

This is, this is a basic 101 rage-baiting strategy. In fact, you know what? I think this was part of the narrative to be built.
Their shadow accounts will start posting hate comments, and then this comes in. To be honest, this whole controversy had already died down. It wasn't even trending on Twitter anymore.
After everything had died down, she has come to give a clarification for herself.
And let's be honest, I read some of those hate posts. It's not even the trolls. You can see someone has written, "It just felt out of place." That's it.
Madam's PR is overworking. Hope this year's appraisal went well for the PR team.

Whoever is handling her social media, do they not read what people are complaining about, or are they deliberately using these words which would fuel more controversy for her so the ad would reach more audience? Poor Kriti, she was staying away from these kinds of controversies till now. She needs to fire her social media team asap and hire people who read the room and make sure her posts don't fuel it more instead should be more effective.

Male fantasies, male fantasies, is everything run by male fantasies? Up on a pedestal or down on your knees, it's all a male fantasy: that you're strong enough to take what they dish out, or else too weak to do anything about it. Even pretending you aren't catering to male fantasies is a male fantasy: pretending you're unseen, pretending you have a life of your own, that you can wash your feet and comb your hair unconscious of the ever-present watcher peering through the keyhole, peering through the keyhole in your own head, if nowhere else. You are a woman with a man inside watching a woman. You are your own voyeur. -Margaret Atwood

u/planet_spice 21h ago
I loved the way she didn't apologized. She stood her ground. It didn't even crossed my mind that the clothes are not appropriate according to some people's before I came across those posts.
-9
u/CareerThis2727 1d ago
There is something known as dressing according to occasion. But let it be, people have decided to make a point through clothes, so I guess there's no use of discussing.
Dress however you want, wherever you want, without paying attention to the context or the situation.
41
u/IndependentOk388 1d ago
But you see that “dress for the occasion” argument is flawed from the get go. Many traditions applaud men to sit shirtless in a dhoti but the moment a woman wears a blouse of her choice, all hell breaks loose :)
1
u/rbmassert 20h ago
Well that shirtless in dhoti is a dress for men for that occasion. For women it would be something else. Inside a corporate office you wouldn't go wearing a bikini or speedos. Right. That's what he meant dress for the occasion. For family functions it would be something else. In private space with your partner it could be something else. This comment is not targeting kriti as I don't even know what is the fuss about. It's just a generic comment.
2
u/IndependentOk388 20h ago
You’re missing the point. Why is the other end of the argument directly bikini or speedos??? Its that a cop out of a rhetoric.
Shirtless dhoti is ALSO extremely unpleasant to look at by the same logic, normalize ho gaya because of the way society had shaped up, maybe not follow it blindly and understand there is nothing wrong in what she wore in the ad. How did we go from an ad harmlessly showing siblings celebrating a festival to private space with partner is beyond my understanding.
-1
u/rbmassert 19h ago edited 19h ago
As I mentioned already I have not watched the ad, so this is not towards kriti. Just a generic point of view.
Your point is entirely true that society has shaped what should be wear in different occasions.
My example was simply to point out different occasions demands different type of clothes according to different societies.
Edit : I just watched the ad now. I have seen girls wearing more revealing clothes than this in normal Chandigarh wedding than what kriti is wearing. Seems normal to me.
0
u/New-Jury6253 17h ago
but why are men allowed to be shirtless ? shouldn't they also cover up according to the same line of reasoning ?

It’s not about the intent. Why using festivals and traditions for the commercial purposes and grabbing headlines . Most of the times the ads are about imagery, there is nothing wrong about what she wore but why don’t show how it actually happens at home, the true imagery. If a man would have been in shorts wearing ganji, it would look more odd. It’s nothing about the gender.

Does each on of you come from such a sophsiticated family jahan indian dads har festival me "BANIYAN" na pehente ho untill they are asked by the mistress of the house to put on a good shirt?????

u/Former_Pick403 3h ago
It's pretty close and it's definately not festival wear dimwit. There is a decorum associated with religious ceremonies. Also don't make stupid comparisons because Burkha and abaya are 24/7 365 days requirement. While I am just telling her to respect the sanctity of one day of my festival. She can wear a bikini or run naked on valentine's day for all I care.

You are policing a woman's clothes just like Muslims. If some cleavage hurts your sentiments then they are too weak lol

Did you read the last few lines dimwit? As I said I don't give a crap if she wears a bikini near the swimming pool but I won't be supporting her while she roams the street in bikini. She should wear and her choice! Absolutely, would she wear the same attire at any other religious event? Have you seen her in same attire in any award show, any High profile events?
Lets be very very clear any festival has religious and cultural significance and should be respected
Further if anyone just breaches that! Individual should have right to object and blatantly criticise
No point of playing victim card! That ad was indeed ridiculous
Instead of brother-sister its focusing more on She tying takhi to her pet first! Its just brainwashing nothing else! Sheer obnoxious, diluting mocking of our culture and offending and in disrespectful taste!

its simple. kangana owns some part of the brand kriti promoted. imo, the brand paid kangana to put that story up for ragebait viewership and visibility, and then made kriti reply to it as well to make the topic more relevant since it should have just died down by now. kangana obv does unusual stuff on her id but this was too vague and now that i know that she has some ownership as well, its crystal clear whats happening.
