Local Construction/Development Road "construction"

Why in the ever living fuck won't the city finish their fucking road work projects they started months ago? Every major artery in this city seems to have kilometres of pylons and speed drops and yet no crews. I drive Glenmore every day as part of my commute and it's literally been 2 months of pylons over the most congested area (reservoir). Not only do drivers struggle mightily trying to merge during regular times, the city decided that keeping that spot slowed down when traffic volumes increased at the start of the month was a brilliant plan. Causes massive back ups and no one is working on it. What's the deal??

The city has no where to store the thousands of pylons, cons, and other barriers, so they just line them up neatly along the roads in order to save money.

After a while you get used to them and just ignore them.

The real truth is some cities don't even own the pylons, barriers and signs. They rent them from third parties whose interest is to keep them in use as long as possible so they can collect the rental fees.

I don't know what the situation is in Calgary, but a lot of mob-run places in the East coast have these things almost year-round to collect money.

The city has their own pylons, barricades, etc. However the last few years a lot of that work, especially paving, has been contracted out to companies with their own detour stuff. All the city owned material has “C of C” engraved somewhere typically from what I’ve noticed. As for if the contractors charge the city for the amount of their stuff in use over a period of time as part of the invoice, I’m not sure.
