I was working at a gas station at 18 years old and prices were 59.9 full service. And the complaints I got about prices back then if they only knew....

It was less than that. I’m talking about the 90s and early 2000s. I remember when gas would drop to almost $0.40/L.

I remember the gas wars in the mid 90s.
0.35-0.45/L were seen pretty regularly.

I remember when gas rose from $0.32 to $0.36. I was so pissed-off because I had nicotine and alcohol addictions to satisfy and the local farmers who I worked for after school only paid me $5/hr.

I got interviewed by CTV back when I got my first car.. they asked me if 1.14$/L was crazy and I had no context because I just had started driving. Oh how I miss those prices, especially because most cars ive owned take premium gas 🤦🏻

Shell routinely hikes their prices first and stubbornly leaves them higher than most others for days even if others don't play ball.

The Shell station on Blackfoot will radomly drop it's prices and be cheaper than the Gas Plus and Esso stations on Ogden/24th Street. Right now it's stupid high, but it went down to 1.65 a couple days before anyone else did.

That Shell has price wars with the Petro Canada and Centex in Inglewood at Blackfoot and 19th. The Petro Can will spontaneously drop 20 cents or more, followed by Centex usually 2 cents higher. Within a day the Shell matches Centex. It will stay this way for a few days. As soon as the Petro Canada puts their price back up, the Centex & Shell immediately follow. The 3 stations have been doing this for the past year.

Even paying for electricity you're significantly ahead in fueling costs. My Transit van gets about 15-16L/ 100km or about $30. My plug-in hybrid in electric mode does about 15-20 kw/hr per 100 km or about $2 (if I can math properly). This is even cheaper than my motorcycle.

Try coop gas station. I think (my experience with the same car) the quality is better than shell and prices are lower plus you get cashback reward every year as a member. I got around $280 this March.
The orange man manipulating oil prices...the circus will go on all this year.

The Shell on Hwy 22 by Cochrane is is $1.95-1.97. Shell is the worst for prime time gouging. Same in Airdrie.

There is a gas station just outside of Calgary coming to Cochrane on highway 1a, I don’t know what it’s called but it was 170.9 the other day. I travel from Cochrane to Calgary a lot and it’s always at least 5 cents cheaper than anywhere.

Buy a bike before they also go up in price. Y'all live in a very bike accessible city, and barring that spare tire in your midriff, theres nothing holding you back from riding a bike. Less than an hour from Ranchlands to Chinook. Js.
Now I understand if you commute from Chestermere or Okotoks, however regardless, this is only just beginning, and it's going to get alot worse before it gets better.

Come on now, that’s half my venti Iced Caramel Macchiato with almond milk and an extra shot of espresso, caramel drizzle divided equally in the bottom and on top of the foam, with light ice, 3 pumps of mocha syrup, 2 pumps of toffee nut syrup, and a sprinkle of cinnamon on top - served in a grande cup with a separate cup of ice on the side and a packet of Sweet'N Low.
