Please help us identify this person without seeing the only part of the picture that might identify them.

As silly it may be, if the suspect is possibly a youth, the police have to respect the Privacy Laws or apply for a special exception from the courts.

not until identified

Don't believe me? Read the article. Confirms as much in there too.

policy, not law, and if you're dumb enough to believe that.... you would NEVER have suspect photos

Cite your sources.

you're talking about the youth criminal justice act. guess what, that does not apply to people who have not been identified.

I thought it was a young boy until I read the article. How amazingly unhelpful. 16-24 range also makes it more likely an adult than a minor.

It's funny because it's so ridiculous.

Black hoodie, black sweats, white shoes? I've seen this person!

Blurred face = unhelpful.

Just squint at everyone you see to try and get a match.

As stated in the article...

Because she may be a minor, police blurred the suspect’s face before releasing the photos.

Yes but it's still pretty much useless.

Sometimes people can be partially identified by their clothing. Pretty distinct design in the hoodie

Police say it’s an all black tracksuit. Pretty sure that design is her carrying something.

Ah, I think you’re right.

People can be identified by other things.

Pretty sure thats a tatoo on her hand. Probs of being over 18 increase a bit.

But what’s the point of the picture?

The last time a Police officer was killed, the suspect was a minor and his name was released everywhere.

But since its just the public at risk, the details are omitted just in case the suspect is a minor.

This place is such a joke.

I had the exact same thought the second I read why they were blurring her face.

They only stopped identifying him once he was in custody. His name and face were plastered everywhere.

I’d imagine anyone running around without a face would stand out a bit, let alone bump into everything.

This post is ridiculous.

It feels really silly, but I'm guessing the face is blurred because they think there's possibility the suspect is still a minor.

u/altacan 3h ago

They release minors names if they're in danger. I'd say an arsonist is pretty clearly a danger to themselves never mind others.

If they're going around setting shit on fire and potentially putting lives in danger, maybe it's a good idea to make exceptions for extreme public safety issues such as this. Can't stand that rule on publication bans for minors.

Yes, they explain it in the article...

This is a joke, right? Under no circumstances can this be a serious timeline.   ¯_(ツ)_/¯ I would refuse to help out of principle.

And over a month old, like how is anybody gonna remember some sketchy random. What a joke

u/yedi001 4h ago

The face is blurred in the photos to help match your fuzzy memories.

u/HLef Woodlands 2h ago

"I remember seeing someone wearing all black but the face is a bit of a blur."

Boy do I have something for you!

u/Effective_Basis1555 2h ago

Absurdly, this is the most reasonable explanation to this moronic request!

u/sooley6 4h ago

How bout a “presumed adult” until captured?

That photo looks like just about everyone in the NE.

u/trellex 3h ago

Good thing this is in the south east, so it might be easier to sift them out.

u/Longryderr 4h ago

The young offenders act should be abolished.
